I kind of think David Bowie's a bit like Prince, in that he's touted as a genius but hasn't actually done any single amazing song. He's done lots of good ones, but nothing outstanding. This is just a wind up. |

I could listen to an hour's worth of David Bowie's Greatest Hits, and have a nice time. Maybe slightly less so with Prince, though 'Get off' and 'Party Man' might get a rewind.

I used just to have the Hits CDs which are ace, but I bought his albums a few years ago after buying Sign O' The Times cheap.
Up to 1990 his stuff is all gold. Since then less so but there's pretty good stuff on every album.
I am not so much in to Bowie. I heard Tin Machine at a vulnerable age.

I quite like 'My Name is Prince' and 'Sexy MF' too.
They're no 'Billie Jean', 'Beat It ' or 'Smooth Criminal'. But they don't exact the the same punishment on the psyche as listening to those do now ...

Prince was an absolute nutter. He used to play and write songs for at least an hour or two every day. There are thousands of songs, many of them fully worked, that he never released as well as sketches and demos.
His problem was that he could only release an album or two a year so there are loads of songs he just finished and abandoned in the vault. Most of them are perfectly competent if not necessarily touched by genius.
I think he got a bit bored by the end of the 1980s. He'd made all the money he could ever need so he just did what he wanted without bothering about crafting perfect albums.

I went to see the new Dr Strange movie this afternoon. It was like all the Marvel films I've seen: Massive fight scene - introduce Macguffin - introduce random new character - random new character portentously explains plot to protagonist for 10 minutes - massive fight scene - etc etc rinse and repeat until at least 2 and a quarter hours have passed. It was reasonably enjoyable nonetheless.
4 stars.

I've had two Testicle shots on Sniper Elite now. To be fair, the second bloke was unlucky - the shot ricoched (spl?) off his lower spine first.
I've also blown myself up twice more with grenades.
All the fun of the fair.
