Clinical depression. Profound, long-lasting, clinical depression, is more depressing, I think. But don’t take my word for it. Ask Stephen Fry. But Stephen Fry doesn't like football! You are wrong, Mr Cheesy Goodness. He supports Norwich City.

Stephen Fry could also comment on the etymology of the word ‘poke’.

I am pretty used to booing managers. Usually I wait until they have had a few games.

I find it very easy to like Southgate. I just compare him with previous England managers

I've read / watched far too many Westerns not to know that a poke is both a bag and, because migrant cowboy workers and hobos carried their belongings in a bag, by extension it came to mean the belongings. I'm also aware of the phrase "Don't buy a pig in a poke"... which obviously means take the porker out of the bag and inspect it prior to purchase.
But all this knowledge still doesn't help me much with...

What are people doing today? We are probably not going to go to Ben Macdui this week. Much as I would like to experience it’s uniquely sinister atmosphere. And to be in the vicinity of so many ‘Big Grey Man’ experiences. The writing about it makes it seem too risky at this point. I keep seeing it described as an ‘extreme’ walk, with ‘excellent’ navigation skills required. There is a particular square mile on the map where you have to find one trail from another. Apparently if the mist descends it can be quite hard to do this. Hmmm. Today we might just go to an osprey centre. I am working today. Really hitting the heights of of virtuosic working. My brain is in top gear, and I'm smashing it out of the barrel. I am a force to be reckoned with. I've already sent one incredibly slightly shirty letter, on headed paper (well, pdf, via email). It's a while since I've been to the Highlands. I miss them. Majestic.

A poke is what I gave your mum last night I'd pay cash money to see you try that, as, in the words of the poet, the sainted Bob Dylan, she's Blowing in the Wind. Here's Bob doing his Darth Vader impression, before the accident that fucked his voice up...

Every time I see the word majestic the Micolash voice from Bloodborne pops up.
Majestic! Even in a dream a hunter is still a hunter.

Morning. Is there anything more depressing than reading the comments of the general public on a football article? England drew 1-1 with away in Germany and so many were demanding Southgate resigns. Maddening. He got all the big calls right. It’s time we put this behind us, and move on.

Southgate is the most likeable England manager since Robert Robson, who of course everyone hated.

As I'm a sad and petty little man I've sent in an FOI request to Scotrail as you can now.
It's about FlexiPass tickets and fraud. It was the given reason for the ticket type not being available on my route.
I'm even boring myself about it.

A poke is a C64 cheat code. No it’s not. You’re poking a value into memory. It’s a way to alter a specific part of memory using a BASIC command, from a value of 0 to 255. A side effect is the ability to alter values of a running game, but it’s capable of much more than that. You can use peek to view the value in a memory location. [pushes specs up nose]
