Morning. TV. Sex Pistols thing on Disney+. I'm enjoying it, despite being shot in 4:3 which irks.
Games. BF:V. Was up far too late completing the weekly task thingy.
There seems to be water dropping from the sky. Not unknown in these parts but it's been a while.
I always though poke was bag. Poke of chips, poke of sweets etc. Never heard the ice cream thing before. A bag of ice cream doesn't really work I'd imagine.

I thought a poke was a cone. A poke of chips would be a cone of chips. So I suppose a poke of ice cream would be like an ice cream cone. But then thereβs the bit at the start of National Lampoonβs European Vacation, where the Griswald family are in the Pig in a Poke scene in the quiz show. Then it seems like a poke is a bagβ¦

Iβve only heard the poke as a cone thing from the pm, whose parents were Northern Irish.

What are people doing today?
We are probably not going to go to Ben Macdui this week. Much as I would like to experience itβs uniquely sinister atmosphere. And to be in the vicinity of so many βBig Grey Manβ experiences. The writing about it makes it seem too risky at this point. I keep seeing it described as an βextremeβ walk, with βexcellentβ navigation skills required. There is a particular square mile on the map where you have to find one trail from another. Apparently if the mist descends it can be quite hard to do this.
Hmmm.
Today we might just go to an osprey centre.

Poke of chips is what we used to say too, when we weren't rolling giant hoops along the cobbles with Dvorak playing in the background. They never served those chips in a cone or there would have been trouble. The cone seems like it's probably a mechanism whereby Big Chip can make a small portion (or 'poke') seem like a large portion (or 'poke').

"An ice cream cone, poke (Northern Ireland/Scotland) or cornet (England) is a brittle, cone-shaped pastry, usually made of a wafer"
Scotland? Larkhall maybe.

Where was the wedding? Last time I went to an osprey centre I'd been at a wedding in the Atholl Palace Hotel, where I also had a consciousness-altering experience involving a large amount of Caledonian 80 Shilling.

Ah! The wedding was in London town. Followed by a long journey to Aviemore the next day. The osprey centre is, I think, in the Boat of Garten.

Morning. Is there anything more depressing than reading the comments of the general public on a football article? England drew 1-1 with away in Germany and so many were demanding Southgate resigns. Maddening.
Cloudy out by torrential rain on the way.

I think I saw an osprey yesterday. In a stretch of forest razed to the ground because of needle blight.
I also saw a frog. A threshold guardian at the entrance to the Lairig Ghru mountain pass. I had a dream about βTommy Shelbyβ eating it alive last night. Wasnβt nice.

Maddening. Cloudy out by torrential rain on the way. Clinical depression. Profound, long-lasting, clinical depression, is more depressing, I think. But donβt take my word for it. Ask Stephen Fry.

I remember watching the first game of Steve McLaren's reign and being amazed at how many people had the knives out for him already. It was a 4 0 win over Greece and the grounds were that it was 'only Greece' and that all the goals were in the first half so the decline had obviously set in at half time.

Maddening I will reserve judgement until after I've read the comments on the G's best games of 2022 so far. I'm expecting: Why are there no original games? No wonder the world is all terrible. People should go outside and do a nature instead No (insert game that came out last year)? Who writes this shit Super Tennis is a game / what did everyone have for breakfast?

I was at Wembley for Capello's first game. People were booing after about half an hour because they were trying to build from the back, rather than "fackin ooof it fackin forward"

I am not a fan of Southgate. Mostly because he s a DVB. I thought he had a very kind draw in the World Cup, we lost to the only decent teams we played and that reaching the semi-finals flattered us. We were however pretty good in Euro 2020 (2021).
