“I liken it to somebody walking into a bar for the first time, that they paid tens of thousands of dollars to get into. If they walk in and nobody acknowledges them, that’s a failure. If they walk in and people are hugging them, slapping them on the ass, cheering them on, they’re going to feel much more welcome.”
If I walked into a bar and someone slapped me on the “ass” I think I’d be a bit worried. Even cheering and hugs might be a bit much. Although why you would pay tens of thousands of dollars to get into a bar I’m not sure. Maybe that’s the going rate for a slap on the backside?
Perhaps a metaphor for…
Good morning!
Terry is completely moribund today. Had a touch of aperol Prosecco last night to celebrate big dog being put down. Top banana.
Games - smashed that Somnacanth. Dragons dogma is still a figment in my omagingaron.

I too have an "itchy throat" I celebrated by going to Tebay(N) for lunch.
If I am first of us to have covid this round I'm not going to be popular. The child's wee pal is over from Seattle and they're meant to be meeting up on Tue at ours.

Ottm. Our new boss is only in the job a week and already is off "sick".
He looks like a bit of a boozer mind you. Not surprised.

Weather at Tebay. Glorious. Back over the border. It's raining. If it helps, I've just had to put flip flops (sliders the yoot call em) on to walk from the house to the lawn as the paving stones in between are too hot to walk on bare footed.

On the old commute back home yesterday evening, caught a listen of how a theatre group managed to stage a complete production of Hamlet entirely within GTA5 Online, with a supporting cast of randoms, and the inevitable interruptions by griefers and eejits. Sounds a worthy project. The interview was hilarious... particularly the failure of an in-game mechanic for actually holding a skull.
One to watch late at night methinks, as it's nearly 3 hours long...

They were saying it was 1 in 18 folk in Scotland who had it last week compared to 1 in 30 in England. Of course our holiday place was full of Scots as the schools are off.

Cruella de Vil has been and gone leaving skin, blood and bodily fluids all over the place. And then pissed off leaving me to clear it all up... Agonising as usual - still is; a nasty new ulcer (2cm diameter) the shin of my right leg and it's the absolute pits. That being scrubbed is a new level of pain. 2.5h of treatment. 45m of cleaning. Cruella would make an excellent Minister of State for Crime and Policing

You can't run a government department from under 20 feet of concrete and a bridge stanchion. Don't some of the government tunnels go under Westminster station? Technically, so long as you are in the tunnel complex I think you could run a government department from below 20 feet of concrete and a bridge stanchion
