The blue bear is busy today. Maybe Babyfark has raised a few eyebrows at Simulation HQ.

Couple of weeks ago I dreamt I was in a meeting with Trump, last week I was in a meeting with Michael Jackson. My subconscious is pretty much fucked isn't it. Mind you Jackson was white, even though dreaming I knew something was wrong. I now realise it was a simulation breakdown.

I've been to slough. Didn't see any aliens but I was just changing trains.

I guess the only possible explanation that there is no other intelligent life elsewhere in the universe is that God really did create everything, starting with Adam and Eve.
Which means we're all related and are incest sex people.
Food for thought.

Good Morning Everyone!
The problem with the simulation idea is that in a successful simulation that does not want its inhabitants to know they're in a simulation, it's very difficult to see that a testable hypothesis to prove or disprove it could be conceived (and the same holds true in the "real" universe.
If you use simulation as an explanatory factor to help understand the universe (e.g. to explain away the Fermi paradox) then you're left with an understanding without any real intellectual basis, and which doesn't actually help to understand the universe. It's as intellectually spurious as the God explanation.
Even if we were to be convinced that we're in a simulation, I'm not sure what use we could put that to. The knowledge wouldn't make the blood on my hands less real, it wouldn't close up the wounds in their chests and faces, and it wouldn't mute the sirens speeding this way. In short, we still have to inhabit this world, are bound by its physics and its reality, regardless of whether it's a simulation. I'm not sure what I should be doing differently because I might be in a simulation.
It might be that the tendencies of technological development have an answer for both this and the Fermi paradox. Perhaps any civilisation capable of inventing computers and sending messages into space inevitably soon after kills itself in a nuclear holocaust or similar. Or perhaps in order to have the technological capability and survive, a civilisation must be sensible and enlightened enough not to run simulations which create sentient self-aware beings.
It might be that creating consciousness is hard, and can't be done on a computer, but requires chemical inputs also. In which case any self-aware consciousness could be assured that it isn't running on a simulation (or, at least, that the simulation doesn't allow deeper layers of simulation of consciousness.)
In essence, the simulation idea is a minor philosophical diversion that quickly runs into dead ends, and has little real intellectual substance or value.

I just bought a washer-dryer. It was more expensive than I hoped.
I mean I hoped not to have to buy one at all but my 10 year old machine went pop at the weekend. I would get it repaired, but to call out an engineer and get it fixed would be £140-£250. I would then have a 10 year old machine that might go pop again.
I need a washer dryer as I can't dry washing outside the flat so anything too heavy just stays wet for days
So I put the £ towards a new one. I have decided to go for an energy efficient one. These are more expensive it turns out. However given the price of leccy is rising faster than that I am hoping it pays for itself.

The simulation types are all techbro idiots who think your brain can be simplified to just being a big computer that we know all the physical laws behind. But consciousness is still completely unexplained by that. As sheggers was saying its just one of a myriad of 'we don't actually understand much of anything' theories you could interchange with God or Wiggler Wednesday.

It's possible the so called energy efficiency ratings are just a scam to con me out of more cash. Very possible.

Simulation
It's actually just the simulation doesn't devote enough resources to simulate Shenguin perfectly. That is why he is lacking emotional routines and an understanding of how simulations work. He is an early Weyland model.

Sheep, get a pulley for on the kitchen roof. Then all your clothes can smell of cooking.

Sheep has bought a washer and dryer?!? Why does he hate Greta? It's more the other people at the flats. The managing agent sent a snotty note round last month telling people they are not allowed to dry clothes outside. Someone had complained about it. It seems ridiculous to me particularly in this weather. I have gone for an A rated model. But I intend to run it 24/7 to make up for that.

Sheep, get a pulley for on the kitchen roof. Then all your clothes can smell of cooking. I usually achieve that by spilling dinner down myself.

Clothes off, fan on, endless attempts to find out where and why my repeat prescription has only been half delivered. My pharmacist is extremely good; unfortunately he's Pakistani which means daughters march in with nanas to get medical advice a) because he speaks Urdu and b) because they can't get an appointment within the next century at our surgery and when they do it's telephone tag to find someone to translate. So it's taken 23 attempts to get through to him as their line is nearly permanently engaged*. Someone, somewhere in his operation has fucked up over the last 4 cycles - this time they have had that half of the prescription separately since last Wednesday and no-one has even ordered those items. We'll see whether my faith in him is justified "From now on, Mr Chumbles, any problems contact me directly." *ringback has been suspended on that line so you have to manually redial. This is not the way I had anticipated spending what remains of my role in this farce.

If he thinks your name is Mr Chumbles no wonder you're only getting half the prescription. That {redacted} lad is getting the rest.
