South West lot! I’m travelling to Bristol on Saturday, heading to a photoshoot at M Shed (whatever that is). What’s parking like around there? Will be arriving around 3pm. :edit I’d ask HumOfEvil, but get the impression he’d kick me in the face from atop his penny-farthing. You can park at Millennium Square car park. That's probably easiest. You walk back towards the centre across the pedestrian bridge and are by M Shed. The waterfront area is pretty nice. Driving in Bristol is less nice. If you are coming off the M32 turn right and follow the road round past the hippodrome. You need to go straight on , not up the hill. It's all signed. It's a nightmare of traffic lights and mostly a 20 zone these days. Like Brighton so at least you'll be ok with it. The road by the hippodrome used to be laid out as a big oval when I lived there. It still annoys me that they have changed it and made it worse for driving. If you get a chance go to the Merchant's quarter by King Street. It's a five minute walk. There are some lovely buildings in King Street and nearby. You could get some decent photos of them if the weather is nice.. Queens Square is nice as well. Up Park Street to the university is nice as well, but it's quite a lot if you are photographing everything. There's loads of food places round the waterfront. The Hole in The Wall in Queens Square was decent a few years ago for food, not so sure about now.

If I'd been a bit more on the ball in the upper left I could have got a 14. But after Sheep's record over the weekend I'm just mellow.
I'm still glad that I don't play Fortnite against the Seal Team.

Shenguin no longer looks like his profile pic. I believe this to be a more recent photo: Sheep's right, that's some serious salt and pepper.

Hello
Today it nearly rained. But it didn't.
That is all.

Morning
We had about 5 mins of very light spots of rain, this then built into about 30 seconds of heavy spots getting us all excited for a storm. Then it stopped. Ah well, soon be the dark, cold and wet of Autumn and Winter.

Let's ask Thomas whether going by train for 4h for min £80 out to Temple Meads, taxi to the venue then 4h back is a good idea... That would be way more stressful and expensive.

That would be way more stressful and expensive. This is very true Chumbles. I’m half an hour bus ride away from Brighton station to start with. So going to drive the EV there and back. I won’t have to deal with the public then.

Are you going on a guided photo shoot? If not definitely make some time to look around the city if you can. The area around M Shed is probably the best for photos. The merchant buildings and King Street are ace as is Corn Street. There's also St Mary Redcliffe and the SS Great Britain. The city centre is a bit of a dump, unless you want photos of a 60s shopping precinct. Further up there's the university and Clifton. The suspension bridge is best shot from below I think (bottom of gorge past the SS Great Britain, or by jumping down). There's a great view from the junction by the A370. You suddenly get a view up the gorge from the bridge by the football ground. Also you can see all the coloured buildings on clifton hill. It's the best view of them as you can't see them all together close up. There's far too many good bits for one shoot, especially if the family are there.

I am currently enjoying draining my old washing machine. It's therapeutic on a warm evening.
I am very much hoping the new washing machine arrives in working order tomorrow.

I still haven't had time for games beyond watching other people playing them.
Yesterday evening in the weekly Sunday gaming stream Andrew obligingly played through the demo for the remake of the (until now) Japan-exclusive SNES game Live A Live (however that is pronounced) so that I don't have to. It has a lot going for it, because not only has it been through the Octopath Traveler HD-2D engine and is now well pretty, but it supposedly has a better take on the 'different paths' narrative of Octopus Travel Inn.
We had someone in the chat who's already completed it and who assured us that it's a very good game indeed, but, sadly, we were whelmed under by the demo. There's three different paths accessible in the demo, but, sadly, two of them stop just as you get going, so you don't really see much of the gameplay. The third one, set in Edo Japan, was the one that interested Andrew most, because you have the option to shinobi your way through it without ever entering a battle (or do the opposite and kill anyone and everything). So he attempted to go down the stealth pacifist route (he also tried out the "I've had it with this sh*t" option that lets you abandon your honourable mission, which is quite amusing). But that makes this section incredibly difficult without using a guide, because you can't talk to people without frequently getting challenged to a duel, whilst at the same time you need to figure out who to talk to to advance the story. When he got locked into a battle because he accidentally took a wrong turn he rage quit (actually, he played a different section which then suffered from the problems mentioned above).
tl;dr: I'm probably going to get Live A Live eventually but I doubt I'll bother with the demo.
