I'm OK for now, some colleagues got the heave. I process redundancy payments from time to time at work, and they always seem to be £40k plus. I'm basically a tenth of this.

If you decide to change jobs make sure the company you go to is financially stable so far as you can.
Maybe a utility company (not a reseller or electricity or gas unless they are also a producer) or a debt collector.
I think there are a lot of companies about to feel a lot of pain.

One and a half week's pay for each complete year of service after reaching the age of 41 I believe.
But they cap at 20 yrs so I'd lose best part of 5 yrs which is pish.
