When I read about Taylor Swift’s climate transgressions I thought ‘How does she sleep at night?’
Now I know. She doesn’t.
I’m at the Notting Hill Carnival. Well, actually I’m lying at home, on the bed. But there’s an almighty hullabaloo outside. I’m wondering if I should fill up a plastic beaker with rum and ginger beer, buy a bucket hat, and go and bogle next to a police officer.
I might go and stick my snoot out …

I don’t know about Taylor being a climate criminal. Or Al Gore, who probably flies a lot too. Was the concept of the individual carbon footprint not invented by one of the big energy companies, as a way of shifting the responsibility for emissions from the corporations to the individual? I worry that if we don't back TayTay on this one we are playing into the hands of Big Oil.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy to get the pitchforks out for Coldplay.

Lol, as faceless and I both know, because we can be bothered to do our own research, CLiemate change is a Gates led agenda to lock down the masses (plebs) for good. The plandemic was a compliance test and all the sheep fell for it. We'll all be given 'carbon credits' that are used up each time we drive, put the heating on, go on holiday etc. Once you've used up your allowance, you're imprisoned at home until your next Giro, sorry, carbon credit token. Obviously, if you're loaded, you can buy unlimited carbon credits and fly all over the world.
Wake up sheeple!

I managed to download Neil Young's Summer Songs. It's available to stream on his website, but not to buy. I would happily have bought it.
I streamed it from a laptop in to my stereo then via line out to a second laptop and recorded it on Audacity. The website prevents direct recording.
Bit of a nuisance, but well worth it

I managed to download Neil Young's Summer Songs. <Snip> The website prevents direct recording. Bit of a nuisance, but well worth it Unless there's DRM involved you probably could have ripped the stream. The developer tools usually show the actual URL of the stream and a bit of command line-fu would have grabbed it. It will be up online soon enough and I'm sure you can test the rips v's what you have. Have you tried Goldwave free btw instead of Audacity. Getting a lot of love online.

So we're setting up film clubs in the library over the winter. Mainly as a way to be a 'heat hub' with an attempt to not have any stigma attached. Well, more so than going to a library in the first place.
Family films and films aimed at older people. Film and a cup of tea/coffee/snack.
What a fucking great country we live in. Shoot the Tories.

I have no words strong enough to condemn the actions of the Israeli government. The conflict requires men of peace and goodwill to resolve it with due respect for both communities - the pretext that the IDF uses to dispossess the Arabs is pretty much the same as Putin is using to grab the land. The Palestinians are equally to blame as Hamas continuing to send missiles and assassins into Jewish areas. www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-middle-east-62635675But Netanyahu's (and Likud's) pernicious and persistent view that the Jewish biblical homeland is their inalienable right to own, makes any kind of equitable resolution impossible. Don't imagine all Jews think this way, they don't. I worked for and with a Jewish company with an ex-Mossad commander as MD and they didn't subscribe to this view - "It's stupid and ultimately the Arabs and Palestinians will get hold of a nuclear weapon and poof! there won't be anything to fight over. Barbaric madness." But both Likud and Hamas increase their power base during these confrontations. Like the right-wing evangelicals in the Republican party the end justifies the means and there's a link; irrespective of party, no American president feels that they can afford to offend the strong Jewish lobby...

I don't think any Arab country will nuke Israel. It's too small and the damage would be to great. The exception might be Syria under Assad. It is unclear what he would do if threatened enough, if he had the weapons.
The only decent solution involves equality between Israelis and Palestinians. It means the Israelis have to let go of some of their security to let the Palestinians have security and a proper state. It wouldn't be easy, but the alternative is endless conflict. I think it's very difficult for a community that sees itself as persecuted and threatened to step away from this outlook. It's complicated and bound up with the Holocaust and with wider antiSemitism. It's easy to see why Israelis value security over a just agreement. But the treatment of Palestine and Palestinians since 1918 is a blot on the UK, the USA on Israel, and on Europe more widely.

Got a MASSIVE pot of healthy chilli on the hob. Will easy get 8 hearty meals (4 tonight and 4 tomorrow) for probably about £1 per meal. Only downside is that it'll cost about £9,000 to cook and re-heat. Oh well, soon be winter. Sweet release.
