You don't have a monopoly in your opinion of Cameron's Dances With Smurfs. I too was underwhelmed on seeing it at the cinema.
And ever since. (Not that I would ever watch it again). I had similar opinions of so called blockbusters Gladiator and Prometheus which were not universally shared.

I like films about Gladiators.
I have seen a grown man naked.
I have not been inside a Turkish prison.
Communal showers playing team sports made the second inevitable.
There was one place I played football that had an ancient communal bath. It was not used though. I am not certain the changing rooms had hot water. They were a bit grim. In a sort of you might end up sharing a very cold bath with a rat kind of way. The rat would almost certainly have complained about the water being cold and have stolen any soap.

You're all weird. But so am I: Avatar's special effects were great, but the wish fulfilment stuff was meh. It would have been a better film if the guy in the wheelchair had snuffed it trying to kiss his blue alien lover; a sort of inverted Titanic (without Dion's awful screeching). Amusingly de Caprio turning blue mirroring 'wheels' doomed dream. Gladiator was, for me, just shite as there was too much in the way of poetic license with the period - I wonder what scamander thinks of it... It was never shit, just cutting edge and different, which is why these correspondents et al have never been able to fully get their heads around it. The techs, animators and movie makers on the film adapted to the situation and made the technology, which is why it exists.  |

Morning all,
Gladiator.
It's a bit after what I know most about, end of the 2nd century is a bit too modern for me. The fighting was ok, though no idea why you'd launch a cavalry ambush through a forest.
I did like how Harris portayed Aurelius, every 6th former's favourite philosopher. Yeah Marcus why don't you lecture me about being happy and what's important from your golden pedestal?

Blue man group Pocahontas was shit. Took my dad to see it at the flicks in 3D when it came out and it was tolerable with all the immersive whizz-bang 3D fuckery, but I've watched it since on a shitty little telly in a holiday cottage and it was pretty dire
