I'm currently reading the Frankie Boyle book 'Meantime'. There is a job interview in it that makes Spud's in trainspotting look tame by comparison. I was reading it in bed trying not to laugh out loud and the pm thought I was having a stroke. You heard. Well, if Frankie Boyle is what does it for you, who am I to judge?

Toast, sandwich, bread and butter with fish and chips etc. Has to be cut into 4 squares. And the right angle bottom of the loaf squares eaten first. The nicely curved squares from the top of the loaf are the best and therefore saved to be eaten last. Any deviation from this just ain't right. And as for cutting into posh triangle shapes....just don't get me started. u ok hun?

The defence rests.

Chumbles Have you read Unfinished Tales or The History Of Middle Earth? Some proper depth. Yes to Unfinished Tales, but no to The History Of Middle Earth... I'd absolutely love to read it, or rather listen to it, as my eyesight has deteriorated and reading involves very awkward positioning and both glasses and magnifying glass: 20 minutes to get everything arranged, 20-30 minutes of reading until I get a splitting headache then 20m putting everything back into normal running order. I doubt whether there's an audiobook of it!

I think everything is available as audiobooks apart from The History Of Middle Earth.
I love listening to JRRT in the car during a long journey or several long journeys for LOTR.
I listened to two last week (Beren and Luthien and The Fall Of Gondolin) .

A brief break from chorezing and negotiating with my new phone, with endless waiting for the queue to cycle down to 1... When I do get on I speak in calm, measured tones whilst inside I yearn to prematurely donate them my spleen...

I’ve just defrosted and de-gunked 2 fridge-freezers. Bit of a throw out here and there. Surprisingly I didn’t find anything older than 2008, but if it’s pickled, frozen, or in alcohol then it’s basically immune from the ravages of time right?
Conclusions…. Pesto is one of the few foods that doesn’t go greener with age. Leeks make everything in a fridge pong of onions even when they’re fresh. You can have too many stewed pears. No-one ever quite finishes a tub of ice cream
Next….. the big shop. Jeez…. I’m turning this place into mumsnet.

I thought The Silmarillion was pretty good. Atmospheric. A good read.
What’s happening?
Weekend
I watched a film - Hatching. I liked it. Had a bottle of beer. Ate some Revels.

I made some carrot soup yesterday.
I don’t think I’ve ever made carrot soup before. It was good though. A success. Then I drank a bottle of wine. The pm wasn’t drinking so I had it all to myself and felt a bit hungover today. A bad business.
Busy at work.

There's a guy around here with a red Ford Mustang. It is the 4 cylinder model, sounds like a Ford Fiesta with a dodgy exhaust.
Some people...

I read an article the other day that said Vladimir Putin would like the Black Sea fleet to get nuked because appearing to stand his ground against the US would make him seem tougher than he does with his army getting turfed out by Ukraine.
Do you think it will happen? A war? A big one?
I think I’d do a fantastic Blitz Spirit.

I'm a bit worried about Biden's views. Taunting Putin does not sound like a good idea.
Heck, what do I even know about this stuff? I'll leave that up to the big boys.
