I'm a bit worried about Biden's views. Taunting Putin does not sound like a good idea. Heck, what do I even know about this stuff? I'll leave that up to the big boys. Biden, like all US presidents, reckons that it will play well at home with right wing voters in the 2022 United States elections on 8th November - maximum benefit as he will show 'merica is strong and if it goes wrong he'll only be throwing Europe and us onto the nuclear bonfire... AND he's desperate to break the GOP Senate majority.
Hell, don't let a lack of knowledge stop you voicing an opinion; no-one else is hindered by such scruples.

I read an article the other day that said Vladimir Putin would like the Black Sea fleet to get nuked because appearing to stand his ground against the US would make him seem tougher than he does with his army getting turfed out by Ukraine. Do you think it will happen? A war? A big one? I think I’d do a fantastic Blitz Spirit. If a country uses a nuclear weapon, there has to be a response. One cannot simply sit on one’s hands. Er yeah. The first thing to do is not to make things worse. Setting off one nuke is appalling. Setting off global thermonuclear warfare in response is beyond fucking stupid. Unless there is a sensible well thought out plan which doesn't result in all out annihilation doing nothing in the short term is very much the best option. Or maybe we could just lower tax rates until we economically nuke ourselves.

This reminds me of a story* about a bloke who was worried about war and moved to a remote place called the Falklands islands, you can guess the rest.
*Probably apocryphal

*This was similar to another one of my not well received comments at work. "We've got a plan? Well, that's great... when did we get that?". The boss was not amused. Never seen Aliens, the prick.

Hello Making the child/PM's packed lunch. Opened the fridge to find half a can of beer I though I'd drank. And a full can in the freezer I'd put in for 10 mins after 'thinking' I'd finished the open beer. Clown. Morning. More AC: Egypt. One shot kills with the bow to the head are tremendous. TV. Finished Minx. For some reason guiding the arrow was much more of a thing versus AC Odyssey. Fun times.

Or maybe we could just lower tax rates until we economically nuke ourselves. I’m not saying that Russian forces are nukes in a tit for tat exchange - far from it. But a hard reprisal against Russian forces within Ukraine by NATO forces (whether via navy-launched cruise missiles or a heavy airforce bombardment) would definitely be something needed to dissuade further tactical nuke usage.

Warhermit chat.
Unsure where nukes fit in here exactly. They are not conventional and at best a deterrent. For them to work against Ukraine, or armies in general, he'd need the Ukranians to all line up somewhere and wait.
Used against a city in Ukraine? You can imagine China walking away very quickly.
The main mistake he made was thinking it would be over in 3 weeks and then thinking he can win the attritional war. He can't. The Russians are out of their best troops and kit, some of these explosions deep within Ukraine territory aren't from partisans but Russian missiles which now either miss components or have substandard replacements (see also Iranian drones).
His big gamble was the energy issue which isn't working well.
The only thing holding him in power is that his inner circle hate each other but have a preference over working together versus being strung up if Vlad gets toppled. However, cracks are showing and even places such as Kazakhstan are starting to draw back support.
If Vlad was an XCOM player he'd fare worse than me.
"Squaddie X was a brave ranger who brilliantly intercepted and thus defeated a plasma bolt using his head. Repeatedly"

Twice a week EV charging Shirley? That will send the bills through the roof. Will the man start to ration car/electrical charging at work?

Now that it is October, the man expects me in the office twice a week. The nerve of it. ‘The man’ over here has the same plan. To make it all cuddly freely he’s callin it “3 together. 2 wherever” firstly I only do 4 days a week so his maths doesnt add up…. Secondly I’m giving serious consideration to making one of my ‘wherever’ locations his personal parking spot. Tosser.

They can work Christmas too.

Twice a week EV charging Shirley? I’m booking my parking slots as I type. Trouble is that you’re limited to four hours at a time. So when my time is up, I have to move the car and hope that there’s a free space that I can park in for the rest of the day.
