It ticks down to just a few %. As he reaches for and finally grasps it a dozen chattebkx messages arrive, draining the phone of the last dregs of power.

I think Chumbles has health visitors/ nurses and deliveries every day, so if he has had a fall or dropped his phone he will be well looked after hopefully.
