We are just waiting to see if the next-door neighbours have another building-shattering NYE party. We’ve received no notification of one. But then we didn’t last year either. Well… music started at 23:30 lads night. Volume was fine. I went to bed around 01:00, and was able to get to sleep with some earplugs in. Then at 03:00, the volume increases markedly, waking all of us (including the boy). Now, I’m not one for confrontation, so it took around 45 minutes of rapidly increasing heart-rate and adrenaline before I got my coat and shoes on and paid them a visit. I hammered on the front door, rang the bell again and again and again. Nothing. A shirtless-youth eventually answered the door after I bellowed through their letterbox. “You alright?” he says, with a vacant stare. The fucking nerve. “Not really. It’s four in the fucking morning. Turn the music down or I call HER mum” (I jabbed a finger in the general direction of our neighbour’s daughter). Thankfully it went quiet after that, but I am not rested at all. We’re over my partner’s mum’s for a roast dinner at lunch, so I’m hoping the boy can play with his cousins, as I have zero energy. Happy new year! |

Blanket bath boys were an hour late. Panic stations; I can get a neighbour to sort my breakfast, but the personal necessities and tablets, they're not insured for. 9.35 a.m... The problems continued because they didn't know where anything is and contaminated my emollient; which had to be thrown away. Welcome to 2023, Chumbles... amipal: I'm lucky: My neighbours were very considerate - they had friends around but I slept through whatever noise came through the party (sic) wall. |

I was in a cocktail bar. A couple of hours before I was watching the Dutch celebrations on TV. There was a big sing-along in a football stadium. An oversized VW camper van cruised around a crowd with colourfully dressed men on the top belting out 60s standards. When events took to the stage there was a song about beer. Then a vampish woman with a black and metal accordian played along to a pounding dance track.
About 10 minutes after leaving the cocktail bar I was sick by a canal.

Amipal, that's miserable - but not unexpected on Hogmanay. Sorry you're having to put up with that. Wouldn’t have minded as much if they’d told us it was happening. We even had plans to decamp - but couldn’t do that at 3am! The mum has apologised (I text her last night), and will be having a word with the wayward teen. Apparently said mum is snowed in in Scotland. |

I went to a party down south, it was pretty banging and really got going after 3 a.m. I looked particularly cool prancing around with my shirt off.
However some weirdo in Amiga pajamas knocked on the door and spluttered out "Excuse me... I say excuse me, if it's not too much trouble could you pop the volume down a notch?" We sent the old fucker packing.
