I was supposed to be going to Crete today but I’ve stayed at home. To be honest with you I’m a bit unhappy about it, but I woke up feeling worse than I did when I went to bed. I went to the ear clinic and spoke to the doctor / GP’s surgery yesterday to try and make sure it would be ok when I was away but it feels like the infection is deeper than the ear. I took antibiotics last night - a few hours ago. I’ve been on them for five days now and nothing’s happening. I can’t be in Crete when they run out.
I’m not happy.

The pm seems to be interpreting it as me not wanting to go on holiday with her. I’ve been on holiday with an ear infection before though. I ended up in an Italian hotel with my eardrum perforating. This was how my ear problems started …

Hopefully the PM will realise in time old tradition that it's not her, but you! I wouldn't have wanted to go either. You'd have been miserable and if you're anything like me you couldn't have hidden it.

I had a hearing test from a Dr in Television Centre a lifetime ago as part of a job interview. I was about 20.
The very posh BBC doctor asked if i did much shooting? I said no. He then asked if I wore a Walkman, as my top end was starting to go even then.
Hereditary hearing loss, being a sound engineer for a couple of years & 20 odd yrs of clubbing/gigs and headphones. A heady mix..

That's rough.
Ear infections and toothache are among the most miserable things. despite being seemingly minor.
Scubar would have bravely ruined his holiday by going to Crete rather than ruining by staying at home.
