Starfield blog......
My deep undercover life with the space pirates has come to a sticky end. I done took all their dosh and handed it in to the space PoPo, so they are mightily pissed off with me. This is good in one way, as I now have all the space combat i could wish for.... the downside being my ship is not in a good way, and spawns me in mid-battle with naff-all in the way of a way to fix it. Currently i'm dropping in, trying to bag one or two and then grav-jumping out of the system to let my shields restore. Not sure if this resets the enemy count when i jump back in though.
Luckily this isnt Elite, so they don't seem to have a wake-scanner which would enable them to follow my jump and finish the job, but it's a bit of a grind. Ho Hum.
Current companion is Andreja, who is currently dressed in some Cleopatra garb, as i managed to 'lose' her original leather gear. Not sure where it went, but that's Bethesda inventory management for you. The new look doesn't suit her, but i'm a long way from the shops!
Decided to not side with either of the big lads, so have the fun of taking them both on, when i choose to take the mission. Assuming i can ever shake off the damn pirates that is.

We finished Oppenheimer last night.
I'm sure Felice will be happy.
On a software user-group zoom call.
Zoom! How 2020. Have to provide my own lunch though which takes away from the whole user group experience.
Still looking for a new TV and humming & hawing over about three.
Games. Will wait for the (as sheep said presumably £10) TLOU2 remaster before finishing.

Hmm.
I've already got two streamers including the Cambridge CXN v2
I do not need another one, especially for £1,200.00 Though it is quite tempting.
I've had the Marantz NA7004 streamer for 10 years, possibly 11. Stupid reliable equipment.
I did get it a new remote control, which is brilliant as it works properly.
It says it will only stream up to 24/96, but in practice it will do 24/192 on a good day, but only from the NAS, not from the drive attached to the laptop.
I would sort of like to replace it, to see what a modern streamer can do, but apart from not showing pics of album covers it is fine.
In one way it's better than the Cambridge. That is it does wraparound scrolling. So if you reach the bottom of a list it goes back to the top.
The CXN won't do that, which is occasionally annoying.
What i mean is I do not want Crankcaller pushing Hi-Fi bargains at me.
I think the next upgrade ought to be to replace the surround speakers. I've got some ancient Sony ones. But again they work fine and with the sub I've got decent sound.

The Northman
Not as good as I hoped.
There was les plot and more men grunting at each other than I expected. Bit too much weird Norse mysticism.
It was a decent film. Beautifully shot, but falls short in the plot department.
Four Stars recommended
I also watched Omen III on Sunday.
It's still a very disappointing film.
The Omen is great. Omen II is decent, but it is like they didn't know where to go with Omen III. It doesn't capture the grandeur it needs.
There's a few small acts, but Sam Neill is nowhere near Elon Musk levels of depravity.
Four stars recommended

Last night me and Mamifere preferre went to a French Restaurant. I had snails for starters and then a Fondue.
Prob wont bother trying snails again, they were fine, but the dish seemed to be 50% garlic, butter and parsley and 50% snail. So it wasnt really that remarkable just chewy garlic flavoured things.
The Fondue was brilliant, cheese and bread with meat on the side, perfect.

My last Starfield session was spent extracting myself from the Mech Foundry where I had attempted to kill the first cavalry leader and gang. I sadly entered very ill-equiped in medpacks and ammo and found myself running through the middle part avoiding battle to reach the end. At the end I can kill the main guy but not his 12 or so extra soldiers. Then I realised that all the guys from the middle bit can run after you and access the last area, even though its a load screen type door. So they all join in too. Eventually the only option was to runaway back through the entire foundry to the start and escape to a different planet, where I have become distracted trying to use my enormous inventory of crafting materials, which I cant do as I dont seem to have the crafting abilities necessary. All my storage is taken up with ore and circuit boards so I need to figure this out.
