It’s snowing here.
I went to get some shoes. I was going to go to a vegan shop in Camden, then I saw it was quite far from where I thought and it was closed. I was intent on getting some shoes so I went to Camden anyway. I looked in the window of one shop I had seen was near the station. They had exactly the style of shoes / boots I wanted to get so I went in.
The shop had a Union Jack on the sign, and the word ‘British’ in the name. It also specialised in boots so I was cued up for signifiers of the ‘far right’.
The man in the shop said that Doc Martens were all made in China now and ‘places like Bangladesh’. He also quoted a Guy Ritchie film. He asked if I recognised the quote and I said ‘3-2-1’? But no …
Anyway I bought the boots ... The man told me he’d been selling them for 40 years, which means he must have started at the age of 10. He shook my hand when I left and said ‘Enjoy your English made (name of boots)’.
I don’t know why I’m being so coy about the name of these boots. They were / are ‘Solovair’.
I hope they haven’t got ‘Romper Stomper’ connotations. They do look nice.

I did go to John Lewis but they didn’t have the particular style I wanted. I was anticipating a trip to Northampton. I didn’t want to buy online as I had to try on two sizes.

I feel content with my boots purchase.
Although my coat purchase yesterday wasn’t ‘rash’ I am wondering what I was thinking. Maybe I need to match it with different clothes … It’s a black woollen coat with a red silk lining. Today it feels a bit like a magician’s coat. As if it would look better with me wearing a top hat. It looks a bit odd with my Dennis the Menace / Beano style jumper / long-sleeve T-shirt.
