I went on holiday to Romania and a taxi driver there made sure I didn’t confuse people with Romania with Romany / Roma people. I didn’t think it was a confusion anyone made, but maybe it is? Maybe it was? This taxi driver didn’t like Roma people. He had strong, undiluted views. I think you can write ‘gypsy’ uncapitalised, because it’s use as a name for an ethnic group is contested. I stand with Tuffers. A little bit. Behind a wall near Tuffers ... I watched the Tyson Fury fight last night but took so long mucking about with Amazon and hotel wi-fi I only saw the last two rounds. |

The Big Issue vendors in Glasgow are pissed off at the Roma BI vendors. Mainly it seems as they get in early, buy lots of copies and are on the best pitches first thing. They work harder. They tend to have less chaotic lifestyles and have flats (if overcrowded) and so don't have the same worries the actual homeless vendors do. It's a tricky one.
We're off to see Fall Guy this afternoon and do some shopping.
