I nearly bought Spiderman 2 at lunchtime. I've £30 in cex vouchers and its £42.
Might wait till it drops another couple of quid and finish a couple of other things first.

I enjoyed reading that. Though I would be astonishingly bad at it. I do occasionally do nested functions, but 6 brackets is a lot. It's obvious Excel is the most important business software ever. It is ubiquitous. People who send Apple spreadsheets (,numbers) are basically criminals. At the very least send things as CSV files. I'd have them shot in the back of the head and dumped at the recycling centre. At least Google docs are compatible with Excel. I did find one thing odd. The green on black used in the story is Lotus 1-2-3 colours. Lotus was still in use when I started work, though it was Excel's senile uncle by then. I did not like Lotus. You couldn't use a mouse and it was clumsy and slow and had very limited functions.

When I first started work I used SuperCalc for CP/M. There was one computer in the Finance department.

Excel for show, hand written calculations on lined A4 paper for dough*
*and lots of corrections if you make an error at the start that carries all the way through. aka THE GLORY DAYS™
Do millennials and Gen Z know how to hold a pen/pencil? Or have they all now evolved to just have a single digit on each hand for prodding and poking screens?

I feel like Word and Excel have dominated my work-based experiences. I’ve used the odd email… programme, and QuarkXpress for some older documents. And Lotus Notes, briefly, somewhere…

I only got my job because of the Internet. They'd got two PC's with dial up and I knew what I was doing with them.

My old workplace used to use Lotus Notes. I worked on the project to move over to Outlook. There was so much resistance from people along the lines of "I've never heard of Outlook. Why are we moving to something I've never heard of?!?" I spent weeks having to explain to people that Microsoft was actually quite a big player in the whole 'computer' thing.
This was in 2012

I also used to tell people that if they were having connection issues then they needed to angle their monitors to the south east, so they were facing towards the isle of Wight, because that's there the Internet is kept and they'd get a stronger signal

This was in 2012 I don't believe anyone used Lotus after the late 1990s. It is pre-internet technology 1-2-3 was made for monochrome monitors. It was absolutely hideous, black and green. Much like your face.

Today the lock on our office external door jammed open, so I had to change it.
Did I mention, I'M A FUCKING EXCEL WANKER ACCOUNTANT, NOT A FUCKING LOCKSMITH!
