There are 3 types of census takers: those who can count, and those who can't count. No Uber Eats or Deliveroo round here. But the local brewery will deliver polypins of ale to domestic customers, which, on the whole, is probably better. Christ, where do you live? The moon? A one-horse back-end of nowhere shithole, with good local breweries.

No delivery company's here. Most takeaway's don't deliver and the couple that do only accept cash and no cards. But some young enterprising guy started up his own business delivering around town and seems to be doing well.

I have been to Hereford. I had never been there before.
It's ok. Nice map of Monday, if not entirely practical. A proper traditional cathedral, with big new bit dating from 1996. Free entry, but seeing their mmap and buying a book cost £18.50.
I did go to a place called the bookshop. It turned out not to be a bookshop, but a restaurant. Fuckwits. I did not have lunch there. I was looking foward to visiting a well curated independent bookshop. Or even a badly curated one. I haven't had any new books since Thursday* and I have already read that one Hereford is not very big. Bigger than Crank's shithole if he doesn't include Glasgow as a lean-to obviously. It is a lot bigger than where Shenguin lives, having more than two roads, and a boathouse.
I also popped in to Edgar Street. Coincidentally there was a game on. Hereford v Blues U21s. It was quite good. Finished 2-3. Edgar Street is odd. They have knocked down one end. You can now see through to Waitrose across the road. i do not think i have ever seen a football ground next door to a Waitrose before. Where I went in was by the club offices and the dressing rooms. I wandered upstairs too the seats, but it looked like i could have gone through anywhere. I wandered through a bar and reception and down a corridor to find the toilets at half time. Not as formal as a big ground.
Review Four stars. Loses points for not knowing difference between a bookshop and a restaurant. Recommended, especially if you are aliterate.
* Excluding the book about the map obviously. I don't really count that. You can't go to a cultural exhibition without buying an overpriced slightly dull book about ir.

Rangers were playing ManU in Edinburgh today. The PM's train back got held up for 45 mins at Polmont and the police had to come on.

Books The Cracked Mirror Chris Brookmyre
This is the book Jeff sent me on Thursday.
A fairly light sort of mildly comic, but also quite dark crime thriller. So typical Chris Brookmyre. I read it all evening on Thursday and on Friday, polishing it off just before 12.30 this morning. I am not sure it was any good, but it was enjoyable to read. I imagine you could read it more slowly. Or faster if you didn't need to work on Fridays.
Do you like darkly comic crime thrillers? Yes, yes you do. Obviously. Everyone does.
Four stars recommended.
I also found out he has written some historical thrillers under the name Ambrose Parry. These look like a covid inspired effort. I have not read or bought any, but they are in my Amazon basket.

We get all around here. I could request an Uber at 3 a.m. and it would be here in 5 minutes or less #GoodLifeChoices.

Rangers were playing ManU in Edinburgh today. The PM's train back got held up for 45 mins at Polmont and the police had to come on. There were 658 at today's game. I don't think there were any arrests. Partly because there weren't any police there. At least not that I saw. Partly because the worst trouble was someone tutting about some swearing. The guy responsible for the use of the word fuck (not me) apologised. I was amused by it all. We are playing Rangers on Wednesday. I suspect it will be livelier than today. Though it was noisy at the ground. No chance to nod off. Definitely Hereford the Awake.

We get all around here. I could request an Uber at 3 a.m. and it would be here in 5 minutes or less #GoodLifeChoices. Except you live in Sheffield. I would say I am sure it is a lovely place, but I've been there. To be fair Sheffield has got better since my first visit in 1990. Though there was some room for improvement.

Sheffield v Brighton.i Apart from not being on the coast Not having piers or a pavilion
Not being full of cockneys or gays. Or gay cockneys.
What i mean is it's quite hilly.
If we are tag teaming it would be Babyfark & Tuffers vs Amipal & Faceless.
You decide.

I have also bought the Brookmyre book. Though I've not started it as my library e-book expires in 11 days and I need to finish it due to a reserve.

I'll strip the DRM if I've not finished it on time, or steal a copy to finish it as that's probably quicker tbh.
