I am back at work, but still coughing and snotting. This is not my ideal scenario, but I have work to do.
Games Yesterday I played some Silent Hill 2. I do not seem to have quite enough ammo or health. Enough to survive just about, not enough to thrive I am enjoying hitting things with my wooden plank. It feels very satisfying, especially the stomp at the end.
The remake is very similar to the 2001 game which is one of my favourite games ever. I would say it hasn't aged that well, in gameplay, but I think it was always slow and James was always clumsy. A lot of the tension is created by just not being able to do things very quickly.

As they sent me the disc in a normal ps5 case, with the poncey steelbook for tough guys following a couple of days later, I now have two cases.
I'm a pretty big deal.

I’ve given up trying to speak football-talk to tradespeople. They can see right through it - despite my knowledge of the offshore rule, and why those blokes keep standing-up and sitting down in the bus shelter at the side of the pitch.

Sunny out.
Been to town with the child. Got some birthday presents and the child persuaded me to get her the latest TayTay CD as she "only had it on Spotify"
I'm being duped as there's *probably* a new Taylors Version coming out on Fri.
At the childs request we went to John Lewis cafe for lunch. Her fish (& chips) was soggy I thought, classic oil not hot enough. I had a toastie.
Should have gone to bread meets bread for the lunchtime burger deal. Pah.
Came home and picked up some of the leaves out the garden. Filled the garden waste bin.

Are there games that you like the idea of but you're just rubbish at?
I keep buying Paradox games, Crusader Kings, Stellaris etc. and other publishers Civ games and all those factory games that are around and never get anywhere, even after lots of YT instructional videos.
I'll stick with my RPGs, esp. turn based and occasionally "action adventure".

I couldn’t get into Crusader Kings, though I was pretty sure I would like it. I’m also terrible at Football Manager. So much so that I don’t often really play it.

I was the best at Civ2. I could play on Sid level. Especially vthe scenarios. Now the games just take too long. I have barely played Civ5&6 and Crusader Kings III. They feel like a great idea, but i just don't put in the hours. Then a few weeks later i might play again for an hour or two, but I will start again. While it is 99% me i know Civ games got too long.Firaxis were surprised at the very low completion rate for even one game of Civ on steam. I think it was less than 10% of players compd even one playthrough. The idea is great though.

I gave up Championship Manager in 2003. This coincided with going to more actual football.
I got back one night from a game I started CM just after 11p.m. An hour and a half later i still hadn't reached the start of the first season. There was just too much in it to do. I couldn't tell what i had to do manually and what would be ok if i ignored it. At that point I realised i just wasn't enjoying the busywork. I haven't been back to CM since.

Morning, Had to go to a work away day today. 500+ people all in the same place, several of whom I'd not seen since before covid. All to listen to 7 hours of corporate waffle. Hideous

Games are for the mentally feeble but I still have trouble with them. So that's a bit worrying.

The problem with football management games now is there too much like actual work.
