Wet out. On the trains. Though I'm sitting on Train 2 and it's 6 min so far late leaving as the driver hasn't turned up. Another 5 mins and it's getting cancelled probably. Magic.
We went out for dinner last night. Just to a local-ish Italian. Was decent.
Played some Uncharted 4. In the caves under the abbey. Really didn't remember it until the cut scene at the end. Pro tip - play games stoned* first time round and thanks to short term memory loss it's like a new game!
*Obviously a joke for stxdpr's colleagues. There are no drugs in my house, I'm cos-playing a stoned gamer. Winners don't use, drugs are for mugs etc etc.

Go to Katzs deli and pretend to have an orgasm. Nobody has EVER done that. They'll laugh and won't spit in your food.

New Yoik is FANTASTIC!
EVERYTHING is ACE.
Any advice I have would be out of date now as we went in 2005 for 4 nights (which wasn't long enough imo), but I just wanted to do some New Yoik BOASTING. It was St Paddy's weekend too when we went which might have helped.
There was talk of going back next year for my fiddy-eth, but kids, GCSEs (not mine), life etc mean it probs won't happen.
ENJOY!

I went about 28 years ago, Pref.Mam. has never been, we're there for 5 nights, we've a restaurant booked for the first night already, a "Mafia tour" with food and we're going to the Empire State, the Met, the High line/central park and maybe try and get cheap tickets for Broadway.

I set some baddys on fire with an incendiary grenade on the high line and finished them off with AR rifle shots.
But thankfully that was just in The Division.

I never saw the appeal of New York, weather wise it's basically the North of England. New Orleans or Florida would be more fun.

There's a place on Broadway (or nearby) called Ellen's Stsrdust diner. It's 50's themed, with staff jumping up on the tables to sing songs from musicals. I absolutely hated it with every fibre of my being, but lots of people love it
Also the high line, which is sort of near the Hudson river, is a nice walk, and a bit less touristy
Try to go to a sporting event if you can. Baseball is fairly cheap and easy to get tickets for
Standard tourist stuff obvs. Empire state, rockerfeller centre, central park, statue of liberty. If you're pushed for time you can just get the statten island ferry for decent views of the statue. I think it may also be free
Also places from films - Penn station and the library

Sigh Rental Too Remake. Enjoying very much. I can't remember the original too much, other than wandering around lost in the fog and bumping into stuff. Although I was a pot head back then. There's nothing remarkable about it, but it's just perfect 2001 ps2 gaming. I spent a few hours exploring my map in South Vale, checking every nook and cranny for clues, openings etc and being attacked by monsters now and again. Great atmosphere (calm down, Russ Abbot), spooky sounds, pretty scarey, and the map is NOT FILLED WITH A MILLION NEEDY ?'s so that I give up after 30 hours and only 3% completion. Also, Richard Wordsworth dunt know shit. What he's complaining about is what makes it great. The jerk. www.theguardian.com/games/2024/oct/09/silent-hill-2-review-playstation-5-pcTldr: things were better in the olden days.

New York boasting
I presume you mean the fake American place, not the suburb of Rotherham?
Five nights in Rotherham would be a lot. Once you have seen the New York Stadium and Millmoor there is a church and not a lot else. It's convenient for Meadowhall if that is your thing.
Fake New York Boasting I went there in 1996, so my information is even more out of date than Tuffers.
Statue Of Liberty and Liberty island were good. I think you can visit Ellis Island as well. St Patrick's is worth a few minutes if you like not very old churches. IT's not a patch on European cathedrals though. I think we went to a museum or two. I don't think it was MOMA or the Guggenheim both of which are pretty good.
I went up the World Trade Centre. Best thing about it was it's the once place in NY you can't see the WTC from. I think there may have been some practical architectural criticism since then.
We went to some places for food. Possibly Katz's Deli. Possibly not. It was a long time ago. Also a burger place in Times Square. Some other places as well. I do not know their names or if they still exist. They'd probably be a bit downmarket anyway as I was a poor student.

Morning all!
Our mattress is currently on the living room floor due to the bedroom being unusable, so have had a fun couple of nights sleeping in the same room as the cat. The first night, the feline was quiet - only really started leaping around at 6:30am. Last night, he seemed to want to play continuously… [yawn]
Cometblog: chance would be a fine thing. Been cloudy down on the south coast for the past week.
TVblog: Culinary Class Wars. It’s brilliant.

The jerk. www.theguardian.com/games/2024/oct/09/silent-hill-2-review-playstation-5-pcTldr: things were better in the olden days. I think he is too young/ too scared to appreciate Silent Hill 2. It was always a dull game, in the best possible way. That is there are long gaps between the action sequences, especially at the start if you are slowly exploring the town. The sense of something bad is what it is about. And James is supposed to be clumsy. The fights are not hard if you get them right, but are a desperate struggle if you don't. Big games companies have never made many games like SH2. That is because the audience for them is small. People generally want horror lite, not a gradually overwhelming sense that you are the bad guy and it might be you, not everyone else that is the monster.. I accidentally turned the flashlight off in Woodside apartments and couldn't work out how to turn it back on. (R3). Without it parts of the game are pitch black. It does not work that well if you can't see anything at all.
