OTTM - took car in for MOT and service this morning. Same place every year for what must be 18 years now, although not the same car obvs. I can see it in his eyes that he knows that I know nothing about cars. Plus I can see that he also knows that I know he knows I know shit about cars. He just smiles a pitiful smile at me as is customary. Then later on today I'll pay him whatever fee he decides without question. And I'll say thank you.

Oh yeah, really fuckin' foggy out. Don't let Tuffers hit you with a wooden plank with nails on it. No. Wait! The nice man with the plank is trying to help you. TuffersHit him! Stomp his head! I was getting slightly worried last night about how much I was getting into the head stomp. Even after I knew the monster wasn't getting back up, there were a couple of times where I carried on stomping just to sure, then added a few extra whacks with the naily plank too.

I went to New York in 1994. I remember it being pretty seedy and not especially well kempt. The steam coming out from the grates in the roads was the best bit because it made you feel like you were in the opening scenes of an 80s buddy cop movie. I also remember looking in the window of an off licence selling exotic European beers, and seeing a can of McEwan's Export on sale for 8 dollars.

This time next week we'll be in New Yawk, any advice/tips etc? Apart from "don't go". Don't speak in a New York accent as it changes from Bronx to Brooklyn to Jersey, and don't order the standard Uk sized meal such as medium, most are equivalent to super size Uk. Also everything is tipped, even going to the bathroom/restroom. Also - guns guns guns! K edit: (I've never been but I saw it in a film once).

"Fish fingers were 'invented' to use up discarded fish, trimmings and other unsellable parts.".
Must be true, I read it on the internet.

Back at the opticians. They've been blowing a gale force into my eyes and now they've put some drops in my eyes so they can take a better photo. Optician being a bit pissy as they're not getting the result they want.
Fucking shitty peepers.

I’m heading to the opticians tomorrow for them to fix the lenses they fitted last week.
The optician said that the new prescription wasn’t that big a change, but worth swapping if I’m getting migraines (had a few in quick succession over summer). The glasses-fitter-clerk-person said that it was a big change, due to changes in my astigmatism.
Now, I don’t want to say that either of them are wrong, but I’m leaning into believing the optician more than the other one…

Evening
Car is back on the drive. Service and MOT, all good, £295 squid (inc VAT). Not bad for a 9 year old Vauxhall.
Who wants to play The Price is Right, with your host Mr Leslie Grantham?
COME ON DOWN!
(It's basically Mr Tiddles game of guess the mileage since last year's MOT, but to the nearest 100 miles).

This time next week we'll be in New Yawk, any advice/tips etc? Apart from "don't go". Go to a branch of Xi’an Famous Foods. Boodiful. There’s a film museum in Queens that’s pretty good. The Indian food in New York’s quite nice. Gets a bad rap because it’s in America but lots of it’s nicer than here. What else? There’s a bowling alley adjoining a bar in Williamsburg. The Strand bookshop?…

You could to to Central Park West (?) and look at the building that’s in Ghostbusters.
You could go from there to Zabar’s, then buy a T-shirt.
