I started going to a small independent opticians rather than a chain. They are more old school. Rather than using technology to take pictures of the back of the eye they spend a long time with a magnifying lens/light looking into the eyes manually. Still NHS and prices are ok. It feels that they are more thorough.

When I asked about varifocals and explained my needs he told me not to bother rather than selling me some. I asked about having just new lenses if my sight changed and have them fitted into my current frames and they said that could be done. When I've asked the same in the chain stores they always made an excuse why they couldn't do that and sold me new frames instead. |

Got a midge problem? Simply get a breakfast bowl, slap some washing up liquid in it with a 50/50 cider and water mix. Buggers can't resist the sweet smell of cider and drown in it. Should one of the more muscular ones attempt to climb out, they can't get a grip due to the washing up liquid.
I have 17 confirmed kills in 48 hours.
