I was going to recommend Marantz, but I see the current 6007 is £500. It's good i expect, but I paid under £300 for the 6003 amp in 2012. That's a big price rise for something that's functionally identical.

I'd get an amp with a phono stage. I think it's easier to add a streamer/DAC. Or stream from your phone.
Though i've had my streamers ages so they aren't up to date. It might be easier to get a streaming amp and add a phono stage.

Plasterer in today. I love the whole house and my nostrils being filled with dust. 4* would recommend.
Games, more SH2 - I'm in the last section of the Labyrinth, so on the home straight now. 100% my GOTY. Why? Because I think, think, I might actually finish it! Praise the Lord!

Hello
Back from the GPs after having a blood test. Apparently I have lovely veins. Which is nice.
When I got back I managed to break my key off in the front door lock. Luckily Mrs D was home to let me in. I managed to remove the remains of the key with pliers and, also luckily, I have a spare.
4 stars. Would recommend.

I actually play most of my music through a Sony Receiver. The older model to the TA1000. But as that is currently £700 it seemed a bit pricy. Sub and sats and set to all channel stereo with no processing by the amp. It's not purist, but the sound is pretty good. I'd like proper speakers, but even for cheap ones it would be north of £1,000 for any significant improvement. They are 20 years old. But I did buy the best budget ones I could get at the time. I am very happy with the receiver.It does 4K pass through which is what I wanted. The turntable is connected to a Marantze 6002 (or 6003 possibly). I do use it a fair bit, but mostly for ripping vinyl which I then stream. The quality of the rips is mostly excellent. Often you can only tell they aren't CD or FLAC in origin by the slight hiss at the start and end. |

So the 2 in Sheep2 stands for 2 amps. Now we know. Sweet boasting. Tbf we also have a surround sound amp - a Panasonic combo dvd/amp thing and my old Cambridge Audio one in the attic. The child played her latest Taytay cd via the Panasonic the other week and I'd forgotten how good it actually sounded. Need to see how long the wires are for the surround speakers and if they'd go all the way round. Our living room is probably smaller than the flat we last used them in. I've an unused Chromecast audio that could plug into it as well and then stream Spotify etc. Hmm. |

I think I have an Onkyo receiver still as well.
It wasn't HDMI or didn't do pass through.
It was fine when all I had was the PS4 connected and I was able to send sound from the TV.
But not compatible loads of HDMI connected stuff. I replaced it in 2018. It had done well for 10 years.
