I am nearing the end of St Perido St Station. Found it disappointing to read, but it's quite big and is in my top 5 for providing fuel and/or cat bludgeon-er.

It's almost like none of you have read Angels and Demons!
"When Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon discovers the resurgence of an ancient brotherhood known as the Illuminati, he flies to Rome to warn the Vatican, the Illuminati's most hated enemy. Joining forces with beautiful Italian scientist Vittoria Vetra, Langdon follows a centuries-old trail of ancient symbols in the hope of preventing the Illuminati's deadly plot against the Roman Catholic Church from coming to fruition."

My books are pretty well organised. Almost all of the books I have finished are either lent out or in the garage in boxes. I have significant shelving only of unread books. And CDs, games and DVDs.
I would very much prefer to have the books in the flat, but that would mean me living in the garage.

I hope Mrs Zord doesn't get me Alan Moore's new book for Christmas (aka "I wrote a million words because I can write a million words")
I read Voice of the Fire and it has some great ideas but he is is in serious need of an editor and/or someone to just tell him no. Its mostly just turgid.
She knows how much I like his work, but he should stick to the picture books.

Perdido Street Station is a brilliant book. Anyone who doesn't like it is a wrong 'un of the worst sort.

At the risk of making a contentious comment, I am of the opinion that there is a small chance that China Mieville may be ever so slightly..... overrated

Before I got the Kindle I'd just give books to the charity shop once I'd finished them. It's very rare that I re-read books.

Stop buying crappy paperbacks and visit your local library. They could do with your support.

I can't be doing with the Kindle for reading. It's not easy to get the maps to display properly without losing your place.

Perdido Street Station is a brilliant book. Anyone who doesn't like it is a wrong 'un of the worst sort. I enjoyed The City and the City, but St Perido is bloated, formulaic and lacks any real spark. I'll read another Melville book but I'll avoid the ones based on that universe he created.

What happens if you want to look something up or cross reference it?

If you weren't already braindead I would smash your brains out.

He’s alright but not all that. The Scar was fun but The City and Moments of an Explosion were a bit meh.

What happens if you want to look something up or cross reference it Then you spend hours flicking through the book thinking I am sure that quote was on the bottom of the left hand page. Saying 'hang on, be with you in a minute' What do you do?

Stop buying crappy paperbacks and visit your local library. They could do with your support. I've rejoined the library recently and it's sparked a revival in my reading. Every time I go in I come out with something I had no intention of choosing. It's such a shame so many are closing.

What happens if you want to look something up or cross reference it? Memory palace. Which is mostly full of book titles for books I have definitely read and therefore should not buy again. Or occasionally Wikipedia for looking up difficult to remember facts.

Cobblers and Faceless are correct, China is not good. The fact that Sheep says otherwise proves this. He has a history of poor tastes.

I went to the library to do a spot of printing last weekend. On the wall was a painting that my cousin had apparently painted. It blew my mind as I thought it was just some colouring-in she had done. I enquired why some colouring by a grown lady was on the wall...I was told I was being rude. I hope it doesn't get back to her.

If we're going for a series I highly recommend Steven Erikson's Malazan book of the fallen
