I'll try that again. I don't get it. It's difficult to interpret, because it's a 4,000 year old joke and the other ones we know are all along the lines of "how many Amorites does it take to catch a donkey?". Since mongooses (mongeese?) eat snakes this looks like a bit of black humour: the mouse thought it escaped the mongoose but realises it's about to be devoured by the snake, but it also knows that now the mongoose has been led to the snake's hiding place it will eat the snake. So the mouse tells the snake that it's come to it as a snake charmer's bait in an example of gallows humour. It's a joke that's almost transcends time. It also tells us how to say 'hi!' in Sumerian. I haven’t read back - but Shirley this is a snake entering a hole joke? Sumerian porn. |

I've just been fined 60 quid by Glasgow City Council for parking somewhere I shouldn;t have. They did not accept my appeal that the signs pointing out the restrictions were put up the day after I parked the car, so I could not have seen them. I am now dithering over my response - full passive aggressive middle class pomposity, or just call them a bunch of c-units? Tbh I do not want to deal with this on the day of Burt's death.
