As someone who's mother died this year I'd say - yep - old folks opinions on some things can rile. But try not to let it get to you too much as the time you have left with them is limited and some of the stuff they have to say is actually worth hearing. Hashtag sob thread.

I'm on the second day of a heavy cold. It is just the worst.
I was going to watch my team play on TV last night, but they've been so awful recently I opted to play FFXIV and have the game on my mobile. Glorious victory ensued.
Christmas avatars? They seem to appear earlier and earlier every year...

Nothing of interest to report, bit more Mario and a whole episode of House of Cards, which is getting more and more ridiculous. Since we are on the home straight we will probably finish the season, but I don't think we would want to watch another one.
Opinion on guest posting: I agree with all of you.
New games editor at the other place: Very happy about that. If I had got round to shouting at some hapless Guardian editor I would have told them to get their act together and give the job to someone like Keza Macdonald

Shenguin is a monster. A compete restart of DS2.
The game is more interesting when you are underpowered. Once you have reached NG+ you can just bash your way round it.
I've done in the Rotten and the Spider and am only about 7 hours into NG+.
I did get pushed into the lava lake though.

My parents used to vote Lib Dem. My mum once voted Labour in '97. When I saw them at the weekend she basically said they were all a bunch of lying bastards and she didn't trust any of them.
It's pretty bad if my mum is saying that, she's normally quite the optimist.
I didn't see my xenophobic Daily Mail uncle. I try to avoid conversations with him as they can be hard work to stay polite.

I restarted DS3 then promptly chickened out when those things on the wall did that thing and I remembered about that Vort of the Boreal lad.
I might just have a wander through some easy bits with my main dude to get my eye in before having another pop at the abyss guy. Assuming I don’t get skewered by the lads outside, I’m fine until his last stage, at which point I get thoroughly whupped. Irksome.
Great game, apart from the fact that it’s thoroughly awful.

Vordts an old softy really, you just need to dodge his fairly telegraphed attack and then sit under his bum and stab him in the crotch. Abyss Watchers are bullshit though. |

Morning all, Dinner - Following yesterday's chat, decided to make stovies. Lovely. **** Gaming - More Tales of the Abyss. Also managed to get Tales of Symphonia working after deleting it and re-downloading. Surely Facebook is the killer for lowering tolerance for certain family members. Discovering that the uncle / cousin that had decent chat on the two / three occasions you see them each year is actually a modern day Colonel Blimp really kills any enthusiasm for being in their company. Welp, looks like I’m going to have to buy a Switch now that Shin Megami Tensei V has been confirmed for a western release. Makes me with I picked up one of the Switch bundles that were doing the rounds on Black Friday. |

Struggling a bit with the Smelter Demon, but The Gutter was a cinch compared to the grief it caused me first time round. |

DS2 is enjoyable and less punishing. I'd recommend a complete restart as being a good way to enjoy the game again.

The issue I have is I'm the only left-leaning member of the family so I have to sit and listen to them talking about how Brexit is great and we'll make the £50billion divorce payment back in a couple of weeks through 'the trade'. We are not doing a Brexit. And it isn't a divorce, if anything it is buying ourselves out of a business contract. People need to sort the fucking terminology out or we'll be stuck having these infantile discussions that don't reflect what is actually happening. |
