Leonard Cohen’s Greatest Hits was my first album. I’m cool like that, but not happy about it.
The big hit in the final year at my primary school was Cliff Richard’s Mistletoe and Wine. I hated it when I was a boy, I hate it now I am a man, so shall it be when I grow old or let me die.

Five hour drive to work this morning. I'm beginning to think that if I wanted a role model in the 'box, instead of trying to emulate Scubar I should just have started making sex jokes and become shit at Fortnite.

Best box role model is “anyone but Shenguin.”

Hello. Black history month has been retooled into BAME history month here and some bright spark in CSR has produced a quiz that’s been circulated.
One of the questions on it is about a Housaki painting. What could go wrong, you wonder? Surely it’s going to be a question about The Great Wave or one his iconic paintings of Mt Fuji.
Nope.
It’s the Dream of The Fisherman’s Wife. Patient zero for tentacle porn. Inspired.
IMPORTANT EDIT. If you are unfamiliar with this painting I would caution against searching for it on a work computer.

Grandchildren update: both lads have made it into the world and everyone is okay. The question whether they are identical twins or not is still open. Apparently one has a bigger nose than the other.

And will Granny be picking up any babysitting duties going forward? Or, like my parents, have you wisely moved to the other end of the country to avoid this?

Congratulations tenthenemyJust had our annual fishing expedition from a journalist with an foi asking about overdue items so they can do their "Aren't libraries a waste of money" story. She's asked for the info in a spreadsheet. I'm spending tonight downloading an Amiga emulator and spreadsheet to send the file back in a format she can't open. Also she asked for overdue books. So any other stuff such as DVD's I'm not passing over.

It's them who have moved too far away. Too bad, really. *weasels out of call of nappy changing duty*

What does the tentacle porn picture have to do with Black History month? I've been trying not to ask, but I have failed.

Listen, I have a lot of respect for all cultures, at all times of the year, BAME History month or not. I'll have you know that some of my best friends are octopuses.

First singles/Albums
Jeff Wayne’s War Of The Worlds, double cassette cardboard box - great art, I don’t recall there being any inserts in the tapes. I played that forever and ever the Christmas of 1978.
Chris De Burgh - A Spaceman’s came Travelling. Now Wikipedia says it was released in 1976 - but I’m sure I bought it the week before I bought The Police - Walking On The Moon 1979.
My next couple of records I nicked from my Aunt, just after her wedding in 1980, Leonard Cohen’s Diamonds in the Mine and about half a dozen Abba singles stand out from then.
I was one of those who bought the banned Relax single with the bondage 12” sleeve in 1983 - which then led me to collecting a number of 12” remixes, The Smiths, Prince, Art Of Noise, Grace Jones.
I swapped the lot for a load of comics.
