Morning etc, No games last night. Instead I sat through some shite programme where people make cakes or something. I wasn't really paying much attention, but I did find it a bit weird that there was no acknowledgement of the fact that one of the contestants was clearly an alien. I will be spending the entire day in some team away day, and praying for death. You poor bugger

Games: none. Well, maybe a bit of Octopus Travel Charger. Running around and not finding the paths to treasure chests while getting waylaid by enemies, that kind of thing.
Watched more of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
4 stars.
OTTM: in twin news, still no one is able to tell them apart. Their mother is worried that the hospital labels will eventually come off and then what? She's planning to get some nail varnish and paint their toenails a different colour.

Afternoon all, Completed some more AC Odyssey. I was dreading a massive map full of the sane 3 quest types. It's not as bad as that and I'm quite enjoying it.
Just to pitch in on yesterday's chat, I found Skyrim near perfect for wandering around (dragons aside). Fall Out was inherently depressing, another burnt out car/building with retro poignancy. Nice but it did grate after a while.

Thinking about Fallout 76, I can imagine enjoying it by just pottering around exploring though I can't see much longevity, it will probably bore any single player Fallout fans, teaming up with friends could be fun but that obviously doesn't apply to me
I didn't get any graphical/server problems apart from an occasional stutter and it looks much nicer on PC than console and I can use my xbox controller.
Having said all that I'll probably still be playing it this time next year

Nope, the story is all holotapes and notes which drive you to missions/side quests, there also daily/weekly challenges and "events" which are generally go someone and shoot things

also there are mild survival food/water things, lots of crafting and camp building which is fun, also death is fairly meaningless, you just lose crafting materials and only if you don't get back to where you died before someone else steals it.
PvP is optional, your camp can't be stolen from and after the first hour I didn't see another person

I'm at a work thing ran by the British Library. The librarian from the BL is called Edmund. Course he is.

Lunch: chicken pad thai
Plagued by backache again, I'm not sure I can be bothered to set up Halloween decorations. I could have the chocolate myself and call it a day.
That way I could also finally start Dark Souls tonight. That game can't be paused*, so I don't want to have to answer the door all the time.
*I get the intention behind that feature, but it puts me off the game. I already can't do multiplayer because I know I'll have to jump up and do something now and then, why would I want that in a single player game? Turn-based combat is best for exactly that reason.

There are plenty of safe spots in Dark Souls where you can rest without too much fear. Plus you'll die so often anyway that one extra death won't spoil the stats or cost too much progress.
You can't see the stats in Dark Souls. In Dark Souls 2 where you can I died over 1,700 times getting the platinum. That was without the DLC. One extra death makes little difference.

The Nintendo Switch's sleep mode is by all means and purposes a dedicated pause button which really boosts Dark Souls' portability"

There are few ways more certain to die though than checking your inventory and changing costume in a spot that isn't quite as safe as you thought it was.
Accidentally walking off a ledge while in the inventory is the best.

If they are identical twins one should be right handed and the other left handed.
Just throw away the sinister one.

Lock the evil one in the attic and feed it a bucket of fish heads every week Is that the kind of advice Amipal's parents were following 37 years ago?

fyi ".. in the Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered pausing is just a button press away! Which means that I will almost certainly forget to press the second button and come back to having been killed to death by something. But Sheep is telling me that's inevitable anyway, so I guess I'll just go with it. If some little kiddies come trick or treating tonight and thus most likely causing me to die in the game I will open the door and shout at them "Do you realise what you have done??! How can you live with yourselves, you murderers??? Here, have some Mars bars, you bastards! I hope you are happy now!!!" I'm sure the parents will be delighted.

We don't get trick or treaters around these parts. The muggers get 'em first. (I assume)

Oh god I forgot it was trick or treat tonight. We got a ghost outfit for the kid, so I think I will traipsing around knocking on doors with him later. Still, I can take all the sweets as he's not supposed to eat sugary things probably.
