According to 5 Live 'conversationalists' are going to be enraged by Japan's resumption of whaling... BBC gave up pronunciation a while back so Mrs Gaskell's "North and South" is now Norfand Saaarf. Now it looks like presenters select words from a homophone dictionary My favourite one was when Rio Ferdinand, asked about his future ambitions, said he didn't want to rest on his mantlepiece.

My house reeks of turkey farts You're supposed to kill the turkey, then cook and eat it. Not feed it Brussels sprouts. Now you tell me

I got a Reddragon mechanical keyboard for Xmas and have started using in Fortnite instead of a controller. It’s not going well. Also drunk already on some 7% fullers peat beer.

I got 2 packets of biscuits and a cheap box of biscuits which I will give to whichever of the Torquemada Totties turns up on New Year's Day turns up to 'treat' me as a mark of my esteem, thus recycling without increasing my already considerable carbon footprints. Divine repurposing. @fark: you're certifiable; soon you'll be certifiable and drunk... then you'll be certifiable and hungover... but one of the three verities is that you'll always be certifiable. ratanvir: feck off you, you fecking robot

Belated Merry Christmas (very busy)
The Guardian has a fun consumer complaint piece regarding a christmas tree. The BTL comments are unsypathetic.....and funny.

More beer and some chilli peanuts purchased. Been to the park for a wander.
The child loving her camera. Pieces to camera about the ducks and other nonsense. Bet all you with mirrorless cameras don't have breakout or a fishing game on them.

youtu.be/PHK7g3Dmra4This made me laugh - a quality piece of trolling in the edinburgh vernacular, on-topic for the season and a genuine question for the panel at the end.

That's three days in a row that I've been obliged to be sociable. Bah humbug. But Santa's been rather good to me. I got Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition and a £50 Game gift card with which I'll buy a Steam Wallet top up thing. And a bunch of clothes that actually fit me. Aren't you jealous?

Anything good on the steam or PlayStation store sales? I was thinking civ IV but I don't know if I have that much time to give.

Anything good on the steam or PlayStation store sales? I was thinking civ IV but I don't know if I have that much time to give. It is a time sink - I know I've spent well over 5k hrs. on it and since I got it on release, every PC I've bought has been optimized to play it at its most extreme settings. But if you're into strategy games, then this, paired Fall from Heaven I 1.0g is bloody wonderful! Civ IV from GoG is fully patched so you just need to download and unpack FfH 1 as per the instructions... but it really is quite free form and can feel slow in the early stages... For a close cousin, but quite different with slightly shonky graphics SMAC or Alpha Centauri at £1.79 is also excellent and, as a lighter challenge I still play this too; it is story driven which was revolutionary in those days and I advise taking time to read and listen ... there were points at which I jumped out of my skin playing the first few times... it also allows you to design your own units and altogether it stands comparison with Civ IV The final one available from GoG, which I also play far too much is Age of Wonders 3. £6.79 .. It's different, but shares many of the characteristics of the other two. It has two DLC which I strongly recommend getting; it's highly moddable... If you're prepared to put up with Steam's colossal resource hogging and frequently terrible customer service, then it's got a massive Workshop, but beware: because anyone can learn how to mod it, many do and post the malformed, useless, broken offspring of their diseased minds with minimal, if any,

For future reference, if you click on the BBcode tab and delete everything between "[ div ] and [ /div ]" code (no spaces) you should get rid of the shitty formatting.
