RE2 is definitely an allegory of the Vietnam war. Open Goal! Your face is an allegory of the Vietnam war. Your face is an open goal

And thus one finds oneself sans chat. A weird feeling. No longer having to be careful not to trip over the little thing on the stairs, or to make sure she doesn't run into the road / get stuck in the garage / go hiding in a wardrobe (delete as applicable). Being able to sit down and do something other than scratching the local smoochoholic behind the ears. The house seems empty.
At the same time there's now the possibility for going places and staying out past feeding time. It'll take some getting used to.

Thank you all! I'm okay, but 20 years of cat-awareness are bound to leave a mark. She wasn't exactly an intellectual, but a lovely companion and great to be with. She was a rescue kitten from the RSPCA, having been put into a box and abandoned with the rest of her litter. The oldest granddaughter will miss her; their family cat is used to keeping an extremely low profile in a house full of children, while ours was always sociable and ready to be loved by a toddler.

"sans chatte", you should have written. If anything, there's too much chat on here.
Your welcome.
Edit: I wish the universe were different.
