amipa's ST: Disco, series 2, episode 2 issues: 1. Stammets doesn't know how to say fungi, despite being a scientist. 2. Tilly said "close out" to exit some apps. I hate superfluous uses of out. 3. Despite detecting the signal from Federation space, the crew seemed surprised it was no longer there after traveling thousands of light years. 4. They don't want to violate the Prime Directive (General Order One), then beam right into the middle of the settlement in a glowing amber beam. Note that all of the above occurred before the opening credits. They may have been more.

What the fuck is going on? We're leading a quiz at the final break, how is that difficult to understand?

I know it is science fiction, but if you start removing the science out of it then you end up with science fantasy.
If I wanted that, I'd watch Star Wars.

Everyone is watching Danny Dyer's right royal history, and who can blame them.

Spaceblog update... I have made a booboo. Left Rohini as planned and headed off towards WP3. Due to inattentiveness and a couple of large merlots I made a bit of a heavy landing while checking out a landable world showing signs of life. Hull dropped to 74%. A-ha thinks I, I'll just try out these newfangled repair limpets I fitted at the last minute before setting off on this expedition. One problem becomes clear.... I don't actually seem to be carrying any limpets. I have the controller, but it turns out I can't carry any limpets as I have no cargo space. What's more I have no space to fit any cargo racks. Crap. I've fitted something I can't use, unless I scrap something else, and I'm pretty much down to the bone anyway. Double crap. Sooooo.... I'm back at Rohini for repairs, with a big decision to make. I can carry 2 out of the following 3.... AMFU fixes internals but not hull..... limpets/ cargo fixes hull but not internals, or shields, which protect hull from minor wine induced knocks and generally makes life easier.
Gut feeling is to ditch the shields, fly carefully (ha) and be able to self repair. I'm already weaponless, and to be shieldless as well is a bit scary, and not how I'm used to playing this game.... I am however playing the explorer role, so shields should be a luxury I can do without, although I will feel I'm flying an eggshell.
I think I will put shields in storage at Rohini, and fit a cargo rack for limpets, and keep the one AMFU. If I survive the next couple of WPs and make it to Colonia, I can decide then whether to continue like this, or pay to have my shield generator shipped out from Rohini and revert back to shielded running although it will mean ditching the useless limpets controller, or AMFU.
If I'd known I'd be facing this kind of dilemma I'd have started this mission in a bigger ship. Now I know why there are so many anacondas in this fleet!
Gibberish.

I really like this story. May I suggest that you break up your paragraphs and explain the acronyms/abbreviations and maybe post a star map of where you are and where you are heading?

Well played felice. I used to love a pub quiz back when I had a social life. I disagree with you about gongfarmer's posting though. The more impenetrable the better.

Well played felice. I used to love a pub quiz back when I had a social life. I disagree with you about gongfarmer's posting though. The more impenetrable the better. And I; I was part of a league-winning side that did the proper thing and drank copiously to get pissed ensure the landlords would continue to participate... We lost one year only, when a new team entered, all teetotaller teachers who turned up at the start... bought ONE orange juice each, wolfed the sandwiches then fucked off. No chat, barely a thanks to the landlords. By the end of that season they were hated by every pub in the league. We went into training ... No more than two pints before matches and one at half time... Next season, teams who were previously ticked off by our arrogance, when they had a bye, started turning up to support us against these bastards. In the final, it was standing room only and we smashed them... Although I loved winning, the continued success made the arrogance of some of the team increase to a level where some of these otherwise nice guys and guyesses got to making unpleasant comments about other teams or members. That was completely unacceptable to me, so I jumped ship and became part of another team... we were good, but never threatened to take the league, but I enjoyed the quizzes a helluva lot more... My future MIL was the team captain, but there is the thread of an even longer tale! Sometimes you just have to let go...
