I've only been to one festival, V98. It was the height of Robbie Williams mania. The highlight was my mate almost getting hit on the head by a bottle of piss during the Charlatans. So reminiscent of Wembley Stadium and sitting on the terraces after 6 hrs of the music sounding like it was distributed by a network of concrete drainpipes with the result that after 7 hrs of waiting, Bob Dylan was inaudible over the screams of the faithful. RollingEscargot's mate must have been up terrace from us, because the girlfriend suddenly exclaimed "Look, the drunken bastards are pouring beer away!" They were. After they'd processed it. That was it - I was no longer in the mood to put up with the most expensive and least enjoyable dating experience I've ever had; we got back to the Hilton whereupon she announced we had to eat in our room... "Why?" "Because my ex promised to come down and shoot us with his shotgun. Cue the most expensive sandwiches in the world and as for sleeping on the most expensive* floor "if he comes through the door he's bound to shoot if we're in bed." I guaranteed the floor by saying if he comes through the door, he's likely to be the only one doing so... *£110...... |

That was a great run by Chesterfield. Was gutted when they went out; and then when Chelsea won the final (if I am remembering the year right). Commiserations to Birmingham for not getting away with it, whatever it was. England game update 1-0 That was clearly offside. |

They obvs thought they could get Michael o'neill, who would have been perfect. I did not like Strachan. Stubborn, prone to some very strange decisions out of bloody mindedness, over impressed by EFL championship, 'genetics' comment. Edit: I read that the SFA rejected Bielsa and Lagerback, both of whom apparently wanted the job... |
