If there's one thing worse than the uninformed general public, it's people that work in the public sector.

I, too, was a Civil Service employee for many years: Employment Service (as was) - front line in two Unemployment Benefit Offices in London Department of the Environment - London HQ Finance role Property Services Agency Civil Servants are the salt of the earth, apart from the heartless bastards in the DWP and the Home Office, of course. EDIT: Update the spreadsheet. Depends who you talk to in the Home Office, a lot of them are power-mad tossers. I wasn't, though. I was a blood thirsty murderer. Still am.

At least the Extinction Rebellion climate change protesters have had unseasonably warm weather for it.

I liked this comment, though your BBC comment seemed a tad strange and I'm sure you're not that old. 'I look pretty young, but I'm just back-dated.' Re:BBC, they changed their policy under Tony Blair in around 2001. back-dated sounds about right, I heard a rumour that the government were around 15 years behind on paperwork. As for the BBC, they are mainly the media arm of the British Government. From what I have understood from various comments over the years the government compartmentalises the departments - one hand not knowing what the other is doing, so I don't believe there is any fault where the Civil servants are concerned, as Mr. Tiddles has said. You can't blame someone for not fixing a thing if they didn't have the information to begin with.

At least the Extinction Rebellion climate change protesters have had unseasonably warm weather for it. I heard a lovely chat earlier on LBC with a spokesperson from the Extinction Rebellion lot getting cut down by Majid Nawaz, he was asked a simple question about the Extinction Rebellion groups policy and legal position, despite being confidant and ahead early on in the discussion when this question was asked he got flustered and stated he would have to refer to his colleagues and couldn't form an answer for the life of himself. Majid of course pressed and got the same flustered response, pretty much ending the talk there. My thought is if you are going to have a policy that you believe in make sure all of your relevant people have the same paperwork!

If there's one thing worse than the uninformed general public, it's people that work in the public sector. Ignorant bollocks. This stupid illiberal cant betrays a lack of humanity and, I hope momentary, lapse in judgement. The categorization of the hard-pressed public sector workers being required to do more and more with diminishing resources is idiotic. "The public sector now accounts for 16.5% of UK employment, the lowest percentage since records began in 1999"... Yet legislation has continued to change at an unmanageable pace. I'm too tired and ill to rant on, but I had to respond to this.

Sort of a given nothing on here is intended to be taken seriously, no? Correct. I think Chumbles may be taking things overly literal methinks. Still, can't argue with the sentiments.

Does one put a comma after "and"? I've never known before not after, if you read the sentence aloud you can usually tell where it needs to be. I ran after the Fox and, then after jumping a fence caught it. I ran after the Fox, and then jumped the fence catching it unawares. I ran after the Fox, and then after jumping a fence caught it. hopes this helps..

Working in the public sector is the best. You get to spend about a third of your career on strike, though only for selfish crap like pay and conditions rather than proper stuff like extinction rebellion.

GOT is still "meh". The chilli pickle seems to be coming along nicely. I don't want to have to go to work tomorrow.
I have never worked in the public sector, but several of my friends do and they always complain about how busy they are when the reality is that are all home by 4.30 pm and have a better pension than me.

Guardian comments when government buy bank shares: "Let them go bust!" Guardian comments when shares are in profit and government sells them "Keep them!" Make your mind up, chaps.
