The truth is that, in our mixed economy, the public and private are not sharply distinguished sectors. They are usually defined as such for ideological or polemical reasons, to stoke resentments and set people against each other in a race to the bottom. I should know, as I won that race ages ago.

Sweet, sweet bailout funds. Guardian comments when government buy bank shares: "Let them go bust!" Guardian comments when shares are in profit and government sells them "Keep them!" Make your mind up, chaps. I was never in favour of the banks going bust. I quite like the exchange of money for goods and services, rather than barter and looting. The lack of any punishment for the banks, coupled with austerity did make it seem more than a bit like socialism for the rich, capitalism for the poor.

before not after, if you read the sentence aloud you can usually tell where it needs to be. I ran after the Fox and, then after jumping a fence caught it. I ran after the Fox and then, after jumping a fence, caught it. ftfy. hth. Why are you all catching fences?

The five state system of British Government: How the British Government runs things regardless of the political party in power. 1) security 2) politics 3) marketing 4) media 5) control Pick anything you like, you can guarantee these systems are active in there, from buying coffee in a shop or cafe to import/export and trade to making decisions that affect the public or private sector. Each area works with and reacts to each other area, both positively and negatively. Just a thought.

It was an understanding that I had about 6 - 8 years ago, each of those areas can be used to understand Britain and the British Governments game plan and how it relates to the publics position. It's not meant to be negative or positive in aspect that's strictly down to how you observe the given situation.

I was really just trying to be rude and snotty and suggest that whatever it was, it wouldn't qualify as a thought. Sorry if I was too abstruse. As a lens through which to view government actions, it may or may not have value, but the chart and the context have the whiff of ill-founded and ill-thunked conspiracy theory, imho.

while I understand that for the most part there's a lot of pointless rhetoric out there about how the Government did this that and the other, this is more of a thought experiment than a conspiracy line. the areas all interact with each other and visa versa for and against. eg; you feel like being rude and snotty because the general norm is to ignore the nitty gritty of politics and just let them get on with it, and in doing so fall into the trap of the system. As such they always talk BS and claim certain changes but at the end of the day these changes may or may not happen in a 10 year span if at all. A calm society is a happy society, less for them to worry over, the right spin in the media bolstering this with promises and this helps market Britain internationally and at home, ensuring the security of Britain and control of any given situation. If in doubt market something they like in a better light to keep 'the kids' (us) happy?!
