Evening all,
Today I have been plagued by a painful ear infection that makes me even more grumpy than usual. I haven't had enough sleep, either, resulting in additional grump.
Today was Mother's Day in Germany. Over the years I have become used to not relying on supermarkets and greeting card stores to remind me when it is, but there have been times when I got caught out by the different dates. Last Sunday morning my mother was quite depressed because the television, her main source of entertainment, wasn't working. Late last year her area had the digital switchover, and at Christmas I installed a digital receiver my brother had bought her. At the time I could already see that the proximity of the input source button to the power button on the remote control could lead to problems, and sure enough, she had inadvertently pressed it, resulting in a "no signal" message on screen.
So I tried to explain over the phone to someone who has never selected anything from an on-screen menu how she could get her vital programmes back (Andre Rieu concerts, Are you smarter than a 10-year old? and the Sunday morning church service broadcast) and told her that if she needed to call out a technician over this to ask for a different remote control. In sheer desperation at the prospect of a Sunday evening without being able to watch the Bingo! Show she picked up courage as well as the remote control and, vaguely remembering the instructions I had tried to give her over the phone that morning, brought the gogglebox back to life! She was so chuffed that she immediately tried to phone me.
This is how we realised that for some reason she only had the work number, resulting in today's bilingual challenge: Give your home phone number that you've only memorised in English to your mother who only speaks German. I failed that challenge on the last few digits (so close!) and had to read it off the contacts of my mobile phone.
Games: Dragooner Query VII. 30 hours and I haven't even been within sniffing distance of the jobs system. It's got to be somewhere! Still, I love it.

Don't have time right now to watch that. But I do hope you're cowering behind something. {Edit} Mooching about outside. The only time I've been on a stream was me in GTA on someone's stream calling them "a fucking prick" Halcyon days. |

It was supposed to be 'shoots'. The change in translation more accurately reflects Σενγκούιν's abilities.
