amipal Chasm City, good to hear, as that's the one I've got to read next. I didn't know IMB was addicted to Civ IV. That just makes it all the sadder. Never liked his non-SF/SciFi books as much anyway. Song of Stone was my favourite of the ones I read.

I've read 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture'. Does that count?

The Hydrogen Sonata was quite good, actually.

I've never seen Weekend at Bernie's. I've never played Civ. I had actual drugs thanks. Though I've watched it being played. Is that worse?
Hello. TV. Mrs C suggested we watch Schitts Creek. Hmm. Was 'okay'. It's got 5 series. Does it do a park & rec and get funny?
Games. Bit of Divisioning and then Horizon chase Turbo. Just one more lap, I'm sure I can beat that time. Just one more lap.
Possibly out on the bikes today.

Yes, agree about Wasp Factory.
Also about Schitt's Creek, which some relative recommended and I watched 3 episodes to be polite.

Start the weekend wonderfully by watching amipal 's happy face as he tries to load 30, (thirty!), music programs to his beloved Amiga, watch the despair* and then follow his Fantastic Voyage as he battles dust, miscounting screws and ultimately a black screen. Only the addition of Raquel Welch would improve it. 4* *spoiler

I have Consider Phlebas, the Hydrogen Sonata, Against a Dark Background, The Algebraist, the Wasp Factory and The Quarry on my reading pile.
I've never read any Iain Banks and/or Iain M. Banks.

I have a large unread book and ebook list, think it's approaching the same numbers as unplayed psplus games. Any good way to get through these without starting the Witcher again?

Start with Consider Phlebas... it's in many ways the most approachable. I loved the idea of The Culture (and there is nothing wrong with being addicted to a game ... no sir, of course not...n oh shit - look, it's the only addiction I've got left ... no booze (2013), no Gauloises rollies (2006) RIP my fatal friends A benefit of age is that you feel empowered to say what you think, but it seems that quite a few of you feel similarly empowered ... my post in the small hours took about 50 minutes to write and edit. What have you (yes, you) ever done?

Will give Consider Phlebas a go. I was torn between that and Against a Dark Background. The only thing putting me off that is my mate who recommended it to me as "the best Sci-fi* ever written" has appalling taste in everything.
*his words not mine.

To be fair Felice Landry is probably right about PoG, but CP is much more typical and is, frankly, better written ...

Use of Weapons is the best one, but don't read it first.
I've just been Tree Surfing, which is like a terrifying high wire obstacle course in the trees. Here is my advice: don't go Tree Surfing.

Glass screen protectors and a cover seem worthwhile for a phone, never bothered with the insurance for one though.
