Does substitute champagne even go in a sarnie? I say yes. You need an unsliced loaf with a good crust. Cut one end off. Dig out the middle, being careful not to break the crust, pour in the wine and go.

Hello!
And I thought the Preferred Mammal and I had a slightly unusual age gap - 16 years. I won't say which way. But after some time you just get old together and it no longer matters since you both make creaking sounds when you get up from the sofa.
Ganes: Obsessive DQB2. I need to go to the next story island, but I've relocated my farmers to the garden zone after helping out the mining folks on the Isle of Awakening. Managed to hit a few more tablet targets, including "building a room in a high place". How high is "high"? First I built myself a nice log cabin with a fireplace in the mountains above the waterfall, but it wasn't registering as fulfilling the objective. Then I tried elevating the slightly higher chalk cliffs nearby and dumped four walls on it, and bingo! that did the trick.
Though I was taken a bit aback when one night the single villager I had to leave behind when relocating his fellow farmers to the desert zone because he came from an explorer's island showed up in my lonely mountain retreat, shivering with fear of the nearby monsters. He must have got lost in the mountains while he was on his own, poor thing.
TV: Life on Mars. Still love the use of music. I would not have been able to tell you that Live and Let Die was 1973, I'd have thought it was a few years later.

I have vague memories of tape loading sounds of the BBC model B, and later big floppies. But the 3.5 inch floppy sound of the Archimedes is the one etched into my memory. Nice thudding noises. Of course now I use professional quality apple macintosh products with SSD drives that make no sound at all. There'll be no sound from the Gotek. And already no sound from the SD card masquerading as a hard drive. All the noises gone, like tears in the rain...

This is the first time I've heard about the idea of a TV channel for teaching migrants English: www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/aug/27/tv-channel-migrants-english-fawlty-towersAs the only migrant here in need of such a service I have to say that television is doing a fine job as it is in teaching non-native speakers English. I mean, if it's Only Fools and Horses and Fawlty Towers you are after you could just point them towards 'Dave'. I myself learnt English through a mixture of Teletubbies, Have I Got News for You, and My Kind of Bollocks with Michael Barrymore.* Did it work? You'll be the judge. *That dates it. Can I cite this as evidence in my application to the Home Office in order to continue to live here?

The age gap is more uncomfortable the younger the younger partner is. I think people in their 30s to 50s dating 16 year olds can be a bit uncomfortable. There doesn't have to be anything wrong or problematic about it. Prince Andrew has shown us that. President Macron's wife is 28 years older than him. I am pretty certain le roi has unresolved mother issues.

Also for someone only in his 20's Tenth Enemy's preferred mammal has had a rough life. It's a hard life being my toy boy. I'd volunteer, but I don't think my body can take any more. Currently stuffed full of morphine and in so much pain my eyes have trouble focusing; so I wouldn't be much use to you... PS. It would be impossible to tell that you were not English without you having said as much. Ozymandias Kane on the other hand has yet to admit that he's Latvian and learned English by listening to football pundits.

I was going to create a thread for this... but I see no button Dr Chumbles: On a serious note if any of you and yours have to take morphine insist on the liquid kind; avoid Tramadol - it only gave me horrible constipation and you end up precariously balancing industrial strength laxatives with it. If you can learn to bear the pain only use the Oramorph when you know you'll be screaming without it. Restrict it to 30ml in any 24 hr period. More than that and you will become addicted; on a vicious spiral into hell where the more you take the less the effect and the more you need. You'll recognise it because your primary source of pain will be the colossal bowel cramps you get if you don't take it. In my twenties I got hooked on kaolin and morphine and as I was using it to control the pain from colitis, it took a while to realize what was happening. The combo was killing me. The attacks would cause so much pain my friends would want to call an ambulance - apparently my face would drain of blood and go pale green. Going cold turkey to kick the habit was 100 times worse than giving up smoking. It is vicious stuff

When I dabbled in opiates I just threw up and had to lay down.
Also, HMRC are making me sweat on my tax rebate this year.

I’m ten years younger than my wife. It’s only now that she is retired that the age difference is causing any problems. I’m going to have to work until I’m 68 to make up for not getting a pension in place earlier. What quality of life we will have at that point could be limited.

Only work until 68? Too good to die at your desk like the rest of us?

My pal occasionally takes tramadol for his lupus. He also uses hash/weed fairly often so that helps keep him regular.

Sadly I screw it up from time to time, but the intense concentration needed to produce this garbage puts the pain into a sort of separate box. It's there, it feels as though my legs have been in a road traffic accident, but rather like the shock reflex it's not here, but there. Sadly it takes both concentration and an effort of will to sustain so that neither sleep nor eating is possible until the sharp edge goes. Long term excessive use of cannabis has fucked up the mind of one of my friends ... I am an addict and I know damned well how easy it is to drop into another ...

Ozymandias Kane on the other hand has yet to admit that he's Latvian and learned English by listening to football pundits. Actually ol' boy, I learned by reading the Chatterbloggies' comment and wrote. I'm not actually Latvian that's a misnomer, no doubt a vicious rumour perpetrated by Mr.Tiddles as an excuse to hunt me down as a way to earn his international stripes as an assassin/government agent. I'm half Glaswegian on my mothers side half English on my Fathers, going back over 1500 years and more. #TrueBritInc #savetheBrit etc.. Ps: I apologise for the shortness of my pointless rhetoric, I was attempting to be less pointless than normal due to the hot weather and ended up opting for the blue pill. Rhetoric ends here!

No, you have to be a resident for at least 12 years before they can reject your application, and most likely charge you for the process!
