Hello. To celebrate finally getting rid of my cold induced barotrauma ear ache I’ve got another, slightly different but equally unpleasant cold. Four stars. A change is as good as a rest.
Twisted Melon chat. I once got completely fucked up with Bez. Nice chap, terrifying associates. Amazing amount of assorted narcotics.
OTTM. Sid Haig has apparently died. The world is now, perhaps, a slightly less terrifying place for coulrophobics. Of course, if you have a phobia of zombie Sid Haigs, you’re shit out of luck.

America Ferrera, JK Rowling, Barry Manilow, Gerard Butler, Siorse Ronan, Iain Glen, Brian Cox, Paul Bettany have all shopped in my shop. Met most of them but missed Siorse Ronan I met MIA at a party once, great story. And one of my best friends from high school had a semi decent role in Holby City. Holding a talk while closed seem self defeating. It was ticketed.

Saw Johnathan Ross and Jane Goldman in Busch Gardens once, also walked past Willie Nelson outside the Hard Rock Cafe in New York. I even found myself at a Li’l Wayne gig, but I don’t count that.

I saw Michael Portillo at Thiepval war cemetery. He was filming for something to do with WW1. Surprisingly.
I almost walked into Tony Blair at Paddington station back in the late 1990s. I wasn't really concentrating and this man walked past about 3 inches in front of me at great speed. Somewhat startled i realised it was the PM. He only had one security person with him, who didn't seem concerned.

Loads of footballers as well. Mostly WBA & V**** people though as they tend to live fairly nearby Andy Gray in Oddbins Graham Taylor in Waitrose Steve Staunton, Alan Wright and a 3rd V**** player in the pub. Possibly Ian Taylor. Darrent Bent outside the chippie Half the WBA first team in the chippie Tony Pullis outside the Italian next door. He was really friendly. Admittedly I wasn't hissing at him. I'll add Paul McGrath, lived round the corner from my parents. Nigel Spink, same. Staunton can often be found in The Crown Four Oaks, Ricky Otto lived down the road from where I live now, one of the Villa goalies was renting a room in the house next door to my mate Sir of Chubb who used to own Stonehenge. Roy Wood in Mere Green too. You're Streetly / Four Oaks side aren't you Sheep?

I've met Terry Jones too. He called me Steven all evening (which is not my name). I've also stood next to Sandi Toksvig in the queue at the British Library. She is very small.
A couple of years ago when I was in waterstones there was a guy sat there for a book signing with no customers. I accidentally made eye contact and he started loudly asking me if I liked modern Scottish fiction. I sidled away awkwardly. I now realise it must have been Ian Rankin.

Oh yeah, one time I almost went to a pool party at the house of Charles and/or Eddie out of 'Charles and Eddie', but didn't in the end.
That was nothing to do with Waterstones though.

Yes. Most of these people were around Mere Green. Waitrose at Mere Green is a good spot for local celeb spotting. Tony Pullis gave a plug to the local coffee shop on Radio 5 one day.
Staunton, Wright +1 were in the Halfway House (RIP) in the mid to late 90s. I've seen Andy Townshend and Fabian Delph around as well.
I've met loads of Blues players as well, but that is a consequence of going to loads of games. Most of them are pretty friendly. Kevin Francis at Highbury was probably the best, gave my mum a big hug. Fortunately he had a seat somewhere behind us, not in front.
Yes I have been to away games with my mum. Usually my dad goes as well, but it has not always been the case.

Holidayblog - since our holiday in Austria next year has been cancelled, we're chucking the cash at one in the Scilly Isles instead. Accommodation booked, and now moving onto ferries etc. Thomas Cooked it? No. Inghams as it happens. But the BA flights were very low-demand, so they got scrubbed.

The ferry ride to the Scillies can be pretty choppy. I've not been. Well only in utero. Apparently almost everyone was sick on the boat across.
I believe the whirligig from Penzance is more popular.

Biggest repatriation effort since Dunkirk. Thomas Cook has Brexited early. Amipal must be immensely proud and full mast.

I'm trying to get out of Jury Service this week. I'm happy enough to do it but it's my mates mum's funeral on Fri. The case starts on Wed. It's only Sheriff court though. Fuckers won't answer the phone so I've emailed.

Helicopter hasn’t been going for at least 5 years now, it’s either ferry or plane. The ferry crossing is awful though.

I doubt I'd convince my partner that we need to go by helicopter. She's got enough climate-crisis-anguish as it is. No, the boat will do. We shall find our sea-legs. Maybe amongst all the sick washing the decks.

Also there was a service up until November 2018. It is almost like having the internet lets me know more about the South- West than any wurzel does.
