Turkish barbers? Oh yeah! Fully violated. Razor, wet towels, face massage, flames in the ears, cotton bud with ectoplasm on up both nostrils. Yoinks! Are you sure that was a barbers Tuffers?

I think so. Well, I got what I paid for.
It's a liberating experience. With a hint of possible death.
My face is as shiny as a crown green bowling ball.

Fireworks here too. Along with two petrified cats hiding upstairs. My cat lurves fireworks, often sits on the window-sill to watch. Then again, when we had deep snow in London (2009?), the cat couldn't wait to throw itself into the garden and piss about. Rolling around, making angel shapes etc.. It's a bit gung-ho. No idea where it gets that from. Yes, our late cat was also a connoisseur of fireworks and understood that they were for entertainment. Mind you, she lived a very sheltered life, I don't think she was ever aware that there were things in life that could harm you. (She wasn't allowed outside exactly for this reason. Nobody would have called that cat streetwise.) I sympathise with Destry's cats, though. When I was very small, i.e. still in a pushchair, my parents took my to a firework display that was the highlight of the annual Laternelaufen, and somehow my paper lantern caught fire. This incident made me terrified of fireworks and nervous around fire through my entire childhood. I was only able to light a match for the first time as a teenager (before that I had to hope that someone else would e.g. light the Bunsen burner for me in chemistry class). Generally I was quite a scaredy cat. Luckily for me I grew up in an area with a lot of thatched houses and the local authorities banned setting off fireworks at one point so that families no longer had to pack all their belongings on New Year's Eve in case the roof caught fire. Cats, dogs and me breathed a collective sigh of relief. As a student one New Year's Eve I was looking after a dog that belonged to my landlady's teenage daughter whilst said daughter was out clubbing. The poor thing was absolutely terrified of the fireworks and spent most of the night in my bed.

4K Attenborough is the best Attenborough. Could have lived without the seasick bloke.
I did like the baby penguins teasing the bull elephant seal.

I don't understand why, when the cats hear the sound of fireworks outside the house, their instinct is to make a dash for the cat flap and outside

This week has been quite trying for me, but I’ve made it through. We had a bottle of milk where the join/seam in the plastic on the inside of the handle protruded and was quite sharp. It was mildly painful every time I picked up the milk. And this was one of those big bottles so this lasted a day or two before I could throw it away and get on with our lives. Stay strong Danky my man, stay strong. We're all with you.
