I'm sure in the months and years to come someone will spoil the story for me, but walking simulator with ridiculous plot (plus over-the-top cut scenes, I suppose?) sounds right up my alley. Awww, TentHen, you still thinks Kojima games have a story? From what I've seen recently he just seems to throw a truck load of shit at a wall, sees what sticks and lets his super fans construct a story and force feed it to the rest of us. I really don't get the love for Kojima. Evening All. @bloggie, sorry to hear about the bad run. Here's hoping, at the very least, the health issue improves.

Awww, TentHen, you still thinks Kojima games have a story? Maybe it's wrong of me to thinks it, but I'm using the term 'story' in a loose, squint-at-it-with-one-eye, Kojima kind of way. My preciousssss.

Speaking of petty pedantry, I'm pretty sure drill/rap style reggae is not a thing. Games - death stranding. He's really gone for it this time the mad bastard. It's literally a walking simulator, but with a completely ridiculous plot, absolutely no subtlety whatsoever. I think my favourite thing about it is the character names, that are seemingly trying to be clever but are just so ham fisted and plain stupid that every time someone's name is revealed it gets a genuine loud out laugh out of me. When Death Stranding released its first trailer I thought that it might be the game that would force me to finally get a PS4. Now that it's actually out my backlog has become unconscionable and the PS5 is on the horizon and most likely will be backwards compatible. So instead I'm watching Tim Rogers videos * on Death Stranding (he's got a nice tips & tricks one that I would regard as spoiler free although it comes with a large spoiler warning). I'm sure in the months and years to come someone will spoil the story for me, but walking simulator with ridiculous plot (plus over-the-top cut scenes, I suppose?) sounds right up my alley. *Tim Rogers getting hired by and producing videos for Kotaku is one of the best things that ever happened. I recently watched his hour long detailed discussion of the Xbox Elite Controller 2 although I have no Xbox and no interest in that controller. I imagine there'll be an updated PS5 version, it looks fantastic but I suspect could look even better in 4K HDTVRSXYZ Its not a walking simulator in the sense of gone home or Dear Esther though. It's a bit more literal than that. I like it a lot but I don't know if it will hold up for 60 hours..

I was meant to get some cauliflower cheese from the shop, but picked up macaroni cheese by mistake.
It works surprisingly well with a roast.

Nah, it's not wrong. Maybe me being a bit harsh. Just find it weird that all the reviews seem to be along the lines of 'Boring game play, nonsensical story, 5 stars'.
I get the impression Kojima just went a bit overboard with the freedom Sony provided, probably due to the years of constraint Konami put on him, but it just comes across like a kid in a sweet shop kind of situation. Something like . . .

Sweet human and friend boasting. Alas my friend boasting came to naught, they were ill unfortunately and that was before I'd cooked anything! there is a bug going around however, Mr. T if you'd be so kind as to 'remove' it. OTTM: Microsoft are ending their security updates in Jan for Windows 7 and 7 Professional, so we all have to get new security for the pc's. Why can't they just create an adaptive algorithm that moves with the times and changes?!

Evening all.
I am wracking my brains trying to work out some game logic. I have a tiled map, and on that map I want to have multiple units. So my thinking was "use an array to store unit locations".
But I also want each tile to be able to hold more than one unit at a time. Now I've moved onto "create a new array for each new unit"...

I've got it app wrong. I don't need an array - I just need to store an x and y value for each unit. 👍

Edge gave Death Stranding a kicking. No review because they hadn't completed it. 'Only' 40 hours in.
An extended preview though. Said that 40 hours was dull as shit. And put them off making an effort to finish it.

And put them off making an effort to finish it. It's amusing to see that many of the high score reviews essentially agree. "It's dull as shit - a masterpiece!" Here again I'd like to quote Tim Rogers, who called it the "Gran Turismo of walking simulators": " What if Breath of the Wild was boring... ON PURPOSE". I'm really looking forward to finding out how Danky feels 40 hours into the game.

I gather that in Death Stranding there is an integral gameplay mechanic that involves making your character take a shit. Dakyl is probably just relishing the opportunity to make sure he closes the door behind him.

I was about to call that non- review a cop out, but then saw that the embargo 'require you finish the game'. Wow. Maybe Kojima did know what he was doing after all.
In unrelated news, new research shows the minimum time for subliminal messaging to take strong effect is 50 hours*.
The sad thing is** I kind of want to play it. Just to see if it really is as boring as people are saying.
*Research definitely not courtesy of Kojima Productions. Honest. **Like you needed any more evidence of my innate sadness.
