Scamander It's a bit pricy at the moment. There are 5 games BG & BGII, Icewind Dale & Planescape Torment, Neverwinter Nights,. I think they have all expansions so there is hundreds of hours of games there. They are released as 3 separate packages. I am very tempted by the Beamdog pack with all of them together. But if you wait a few months I am sure they will all be pretty cheap. I'd forgotten Neverwinter is coming, tremendous! They are marginally cheaper on thegamecollection.net (not meatspin), if that is your sort of thing. OTTM - Sword

Sword or Shield? That is the question. Both. I'm indecisive, okay? That's probably why they won't let me vote. They hate it when I'm blocking the polling booth for hours. P.S. If you are all getting Sword I'm going to start with Shield. Swapsies?

aaaand it's downloading as we speak. As usual I'm getting the physical edition with the double steelbook.* I've put my order in with Smyths Toys months ago because they were a fiver cheaper than others, but I have no idea how reliable they are when it comes to delivery. *I've just checked and it looks as if they've thrown in the little figure of the starters for free. Very good. All I want is my Sobble.

In an attempt to *intermeshes fingers* synergise my lunchtime cheese sandwich and sauerkraut habits, whilst bringing my fondness for pastrami into play, I have been experimenting with Russian Dressing. Big furry hats, lots of gold braid... I’m not sure it’s really enhanced the sandwich, but I’m undeniably warmer.

Is that an excuse for downing a bottle of vodka with lunch?
I say yes, yes it is. And a damn good one too.

Morning
Arrived at office to find a group of lackeys polishing the lamp-posts. Yes, we are suffering an outbreak of minor royalty. Site is locked down and no-one is allowed to drive anywhere, or look remotely like they are taking a selfie.
Having polished the lampposts, swept the leaves, scrubbed the roads, and cordoned off the largest carpark on site, you'd think HRH would have the decency to actually arrive by car, but no... as she was running late she arrived by helicopter. I can only imagine the frustration of 'facilities management' having put all their efforts into scrubbing every last bit of roadway, for her to actually use the tatty moss strewn helipad, which probably hasn't seen use for decades, and looks basically derelict.
I have opted to work.... it's that bad

Games! Outer worlds - must be nearing the end, as i'm a lev27, maxed-out long guns, plama cannon wielding, shit-kicking badass. Annoyingly I now have one botched quest against my name - toptip… don't kill sanjay early doors! The Board have taken a serious dislike to me and shoot on sight. Marvellous.

I have just had to give a pep talk to a younger work colleague who is a bit upset with the restructuring/possible redundancies we're going through. I very gently explained to him that things like diligence and hard work are pointless, and he'd be better off adopting my approach. I pointed out for example that he usually gets in to the office early and always keeps a low profile, whereas I am often late and can on occasion be slightly opinionated. When it comes to who gets the chop we are both just names on a spreadsheet.
In a completely unrelated note, I've just been summoned off site to meet with our director. I expect I'll probably get a promotion or something.

Listen, and understand! HR is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop.
My last contract negotiations were a thing of beauty. Amongst other things I’ve got equivalent to continuous service since 2001 for redundancy purposes. Despite being objectively shit I’m bossing the spreadsheet of doom. Maximum payout.

I have worked at a company where the major component in choosing who was let go was the immediate cost of paying people off. Enthusiasm, hard work and diligence are their own reward. Cobblers knows the score.

]Enthusiasm, hard work and diligence are their own reward.] That would make an excellent epitaph. Particularly if I manage to die of indolence.

When it comes to who gets the chop we are both just names on a spreadsheet. Largely true, and of course for us young un's our redundancy pay is usually pittance. There is also the practice of offloading the work shy and the invalid off to another company whenever TUPE allows so watch out there Faceless.

PJYackson - do you mean the actual Gacha machines or the mobile phone games? I considered using one of the former but didn't want to look like a small child. Top tip - CC Lemon with Honey. Literally the nectar of the flowers. I mean the actual gatcha machines. I figure being half a foot taller and 4 stone heavier that the general adult population will prevent looking like a child. A nerd, maybe, but gatcha machine patronage is inconsequential compared to going to the Pokemon cafe on the day the new games come out. So, yes, I have a lot of physical models of animal/fruit hybrids, gorilla's face/another animals body hybrids, dog/bird hybrids, and everyone's favourite: animals with big chins*. I'll give that drink ago if I see it on the cycle route tomorrow. *shyakurel planet, if anyone wants to Google.

One of the best headstones I ever chanced upon included a quotation from Proverbs 6:
"Look to the ant, thou sluggard, and consider her ways."

Apropos of nothing, didn't one of the MPs standing down this GE describe the Whip's Office as "like HR, but without the Humanity"?
