Dear Hive Mind, good morning, I hope that you are well. I have a friend* who has recently acquired both a PS4 and a baby. He's not a massive gamer; so far I think he only has FIFA. I'm looking for recommendations of games that 1) I could play against him online, 2) could be dipped in and out of fairly easily, since he won't have a whole lot of time to play, 3) are fairly good fun and not Elite or Dark Souls, 4) allow voice communication during play. Also, nothing that his wife would think was too 18-ratedish if she saw it.
My guess is that he would like shooting things, racing, or sport, which are not genres of games I have much recent experience with.
The best I can think of is PES, since I might buy that but I have Prejudices against FIFA.
*No, really, I do, an actual real life one.
Edit: I don't think he has signed up for PS+. He also has a 4-year old daughter and works longish hours (it's very sensible to work long hours if there are two children at home, IMHO.)

"The Guardian website and apps have been redesigned for our global readership online"
That explains a lot. No more fish puns.
Morning!
Shenguin, I think world of tanks doesn't need ps+ to play online. Most games do. I shall give more stupid answers from the train. Need to get ready now.

Good morning.
I woke up to the news that the company I work for has gone into liquidation. Yes, it’s that company.
At least unemployment will give me a chance to catch up on games and tv.

Condolences. Do you and Wolfy work for the same company? Our IT systems are fooooked today. No email, no intranet. Luckily we DO have the internet. Because priorities, right?

Time to update your CV and wipe the dust off the interview suit. On the plus side maybe something better will come out of this.

In more uplifting news, I played South Park: The Fractured But Whole this weekend. Hilarious and great fun. Fighting Red Wine Drunk Randy Marsh was a highlight.

Morning.
That's terrible news, Scoob. My company is massively behind on paying folk and now I'm getting concerned.
Weekend
After sitting on my own for a couple of hours I was joined by my date who, it transpires, wasn't drinking as she'd brought the car. Like a trooper, I decided to power on regardless. I regret nothing.
Sunday was spent watching Stewart Lee's comedy vehicle for the first time and Arrested Development for the millionth time, then making pizza which turned out really well.

Morning all. That's crap news Scubar - hopefully the only heads rolling will be at the boardroom.
Shenguin.... how about Rocket League? Almost ticks the boxes of being vaguely footy and racing related, though not sure about PS+ requirements.
I'm at my desk, the sky is barely lighter than pitch black, and probably the brightest it will get all day. Over the weekend my cloud storage has gone tits up so i'm working like its 1400baud again. Over 60 minutes and I've managed to copy almost 21meg from the server.
Mondays are the worst. I need coffee and bacon

If the Government owe them loads in future PFI payements wouldnt it be an idea to buy the company cheap and write of the PFIs?

Scubar – sorry to hear about that, fingers crossed for you.
Shengiun. Rocket League? After many years and countless millions I gave up on World of Tanks, the introduction of premium ammo (greater pen and damage) really unbalanced the game. No tank was perfect so you learnt how best to use the one you were controlling. In particular you got to know the ones you were up against, so you’d have a particular tactic. Premium ammo made all of this pointless, suddenly you were getting tagged from impossible angles and by tanks which shouldn’t be.
What was quite a tactical and nuanced game became arcade for the rich kids. Can you flounce in a tank? I did.
Weekend Finished my vlog on a Greek vase, took ages before I realised Windows Movie Maker doesn’t like MP3 audio as a narration track. Plays fine in previews but when you load up it’s out of syn with the images. That old chesnut eh?
Got a few missions under the belt in Skyrim, out of curiosity I looked into the ‘critical hit’ perks. My advice is don’t, critical hits in Skyrim are hilariously low (calculated as something like 10% of the base damage of your weapon). It’s basically 10 points max.

Morning all
Weird weekend overall with games because I have too many games to play but absolutely no desire to play any of them.
Because of this, I bought Horizon and Ni-oh but ended up playing Stardew Valley and got married in game.
What do I do now?
