The Witches series really is very good, the new Expanse series is pretty good too.
I have also done something terrible to my back again.

Oh and we have the new dishwasher and it took 3 men from John Lewis and an hour to hook it up and to fit it into the space so it can't be that easy. It's probably pretty easy, but not that easy.

Season's* Greetings.
After a week of constantly being on the go it looks as if my Xmas plans have at least a chance of succeeding. It went like this.
My mother was understandably adamant that I should visit her at Christmas. Which is bad news for Mr Tent Rooster and the elderly relative I'm looking after. In previous years Mr Tent has been able to manage on his own, but it's clear that this is no longer the case. So the plan was to book elderly relative into a care home where she can be visited by the grandchildren and their parents and for Mr Tent and myself to go by train to Edinburgh tomorrow where he will stay with his sister over the holidays, for me to get a direct flight from Edinburgh to Hamburg, stay one night at my brother's place and then embark with him on the 3 hr train ride from Hamburg to my mother's secret island so that we would be there on Christmas Eve which is where according to German lore all the action is. Assuming we could drop of elderly relative at the care home on Saturday for a fortnight, I had cancelled the milk, booked all the tickets and arranged mobility assistance for the Preferred Mammal.
Then we learnt that the admission process at the care home was more complex than we had assumed, needed to be preceded by an assessment and cannot happen at the weekend, at the earliest on Monday.
So I had to cancel my direct flight on Monday and change it to a connection flight on Christmas Day that leaves me enough time to make the 3 hour train ride on my own to meet my brother at my mum's. Had to change the train ticket as well, managed to make a complete hash of it on the first try by selecting exactly the same date instead of two days later... Sigh.
The care home assessment took place yesterday. Fortunately it went well. Unfortunately a fortnight in that home is more than double the price of a luxury cruise holiday for the same amount of time. At least there's free biscuits.
Spent today making sure everyone has got medication/clothes/whathaveyou to last a fortnight without me, including ordering a lot of presents/necessary items/whathaveyou from Jeff. It's times like these when I really appreciate him. I apologise to all his workers I'm keeping on their toes and away from toilet breaks.
If I seem uncharacteristically quiet over the holidays you now know why.
Oh, and the milkman ignored my note and delivered milk today. Splendid.
*The season in question being that of ruinous spending and family pressures.

Yesterday I also managed to step on a rusty nail (no idea where that came from) that went straight through my slippers and headed towards my heel. I didn't think it had actually broken the skin but the pain in my foot today says otherwise.
I'm starting to think that Mr Scrooge and Mr Grinch had the right idea about Christmas.

I think I'm finally starting to understand it, but Octopus Travelcard is a lot more involved than I had realised.

Wow, Tent Hen; just "wow".
I can't help but admire your stoicism and organisational skills. Not to mention finding the time to post here.
I sincerely hope that you, your preferred mammal and the rest of your family have a great Christmas and a prosperous new year.
EDIT: The rest of you can, of course, just fuck the fuck off. *
* No offence, etc. and so forth.

I went to Hull and fucking awful doesn't begin to describe our second half.
However our dearest friends got a good pasting and dropped into the relegation zone for Xmas, which is nice.
Four stars.

All you can eat sushi last night, I feel half raw fish, half soy sauce and too much rice. It did help meaning no hangover as all the water consumed balanced everything out. Games, none. Can you ever finish a game like civ or age of wonders? Is it a new year resolution to finish games you start?

I'm still ironing out the details. Technically I gave up drinking at about 3am, so I guess 3am Tuesday morning would be a sensible time to start again.

Morning all! I had the oven on at 7:45am to get up to temperature for some Yorkshire puds. What have you ever done? TVblog - as alluded to yesterday, I've started The Witcher. Very good so far. Amigablog - I gone done recorded a Christmas episode of my ever-popular sweet-content.

Morning Everyone!
I have been mostly lying in bed reading articles about COP25, microplastics, political advertising on social media, and the environmental impact of pets.
Later I plan to celebrate the winter solstice by drinking beer almost certainly contaminated with microplastics which will have an unknown health impact, until I'm too pissed to care about anything.
