Morning all.
TVblog - The Expanse (s4e1). Good to be back with one of the best sci-fi series out there.
Gamesblog - the first of three towers has been built at the castle. As a result, I had to go and visit some massive fortress in the wilds, which was filled with springs. Since I have to keep building things out of "castle wall" blocks (and similar), I also took the opportunity to smash great big holes in the fortress for construction material. Big brains!
Camerablog - titles submitted for Thursday's B&W print competition. I've already decided I've picked the wrong ones.
OTTM - sills and plasterboard gone up in the conservatory. Looking nice.

Today I'm off to this there Redditch, hopefully for the last time. I have seen enough of its many roundabouts to last a lifetime. The housing estates are worse. They have one entrance (usually off a roundabout) and then go back forever usually with lots of internal roads. There are no signs as to the exits So it is easy to get into one, but impossible to get out unless you already know the way out. All the houses and roads are functionally identical as well, so there is no way to navigate out. It is monstrous.

Anyone else get the impression sheep is currently driving around aimlessly, trying find his way out a Redditch housing estate?

'Nigerian man turns into tricycle'* - Fortean Times (1/17) *Hum's favourite new band. is that a headline or a crossword clue? I can never tell with the Fortean The answer is "A Biafranisationist", i.e. a supporter of Biafran secession during the civil war in Nigeria. Nigerian is the definition in this clue. "man turns" refers to a man's name being reversed to form part of the answer, in this case Asinarfaib, the name of a hero in the myths of the early Kanem-Bornu Empire, then an anagram of "into" i.e. tion, all inserted into AIST, the Association for Iron and Steel Technology, who, famously, make Tricycles.
Pretty easy, especially given the 1,17 letter count.

A mistake made once about 1990 and never forgiven or forgotten. I can't even remember why I was there.
If you ever have the misfortune to know someone who lives in Redditch make sure they always visit you. You never visit them. It's probably better not to know them in fact.

All the houses and roads are functionally identical as well, so there is no way to navigate out. It is monstrous. That sounds remarkably like Milton Keynes; in the 80s I worked for Unisys and they had three facilities there - a Large Project staging site (where all the PCs for an entire school would be taken out of the boxes, installed offsite so problems could be sorted out... one of which was that 50% of the PCs would be DOA...) There was another large projects site at the south end which was mainly mainframe client integration for banks. Some customers for tenthenemy's millinery there... and the third was the education centre at Fox Milne - that was a fucking bleak place; they were going to build it without windows until the MKDC insisted on some natural light... lots of concrete boxes stacked together with 6" wide vertical slits placed so you couldn't see out of them. 99% artificially lit, plastic, bum-killing chairs... there was always one tube flickering ... Navigating around MK I always allowed an extra 30 minutes and learnt NOT to try and find any shops as like Redditch, finding your way out again was a nightmare. On one occasion I tailed a guy leaving the shop... deep into the estate all the way into a cul-de-sac where he parked his car and went into his house. 45m to get out.

Beef mayo sandwich with red onion.
Was Milton Keynes where they built the concrete cows because it looked all so boring and similar?

It was indeed ... they also integrated a series of cycle/walkways all over which gives convenient access between the estates for drug dealers and burglars...

Redditch is Milton Keynes without the glamour, or concrete cows.
or EdibleVisions, so it isn't all bad.

I googled Redditch, it looks like a slightly better East Kilbride.

Redditch is okish. It's just a really dull satellite town of Birmingham that only really developed in the 60s and 70s. There's no reason to go there unless you live there or need to visit the hospital or are massively interested in the history of needles.

Listen up fives, a ten is speaking!
Where do you nerds pre-order games on physical media these days? Is Shopto still the preferred choice?

What game?
Usually Amazon. It is easiest, plus Jeff needs the dosh
ShopTo is cheap, but you have to use their website. It's good for PSN vouchers though. Most of the recent games I've bought on PSN as a £50 voucher costs £41.85 so it's not any cheaper to buy discs. I put any change towards the next impulse buy.

ShopTo usually deliver early too, if it's a pre-order you're placing. They're good like that.

Afternoon all, busy at work today so no lunchtime post. Now losing the will to live. Tonight's fish and chips have been cancelled as my Dad is sick. Tempted by a proper curry. Ganes: None due to football and dog walking last night but I did order a back button adapter for my PS4 controller so I can finally play Bioshock collection (which is this week's PSPlus release so I've lent my hard copy to my bro in law). OTTM: Still tired.

Never understood the box view on ordering hard copies. What do you when you receive it? That's right put in the console and download exactly as you would have done if you simply downloaded the game. I appreciate it might be £5 or so cheaper but it's still a load of hassle.
