The days of the police investigating themselves should be over; same with all professional bodies - i.e. the RCN and GMC... none of them are either competent nor motivated to do anything other than bury the evidence. As for using truncheons on heads, that's criminal assault. Only might be used if the subject represents a clear and imminent threat to lives, as in a terrorist attacker. the guy perpetrating the assault needs to be tried for GBH. Hey Chumbs, this has been bugging me since I first read it. I'm sure there are processes in place to make sure any internal investigation is fair. I don't think you should be so dismissive of the rigour and fairness of an investigation before it's even happened. What possible evidence could you have that South Yorks police shouldn't be fully trusted to openly and honestly investigate their own actions and how they policed a football match? |
