That list of the Top 50 Cartoon Characters that Chumbles posted is all kind of wrong. I can understand that it's very US-centric but having Homer and Bart Simpson taking up top spots is as stupid as leaving out Lisa and Marge. And of course people like Lisa, but for me she is maybe a bit too close for comfort. Then there's e.g. Fat Albert (urgh, Bill Cosby, no. 18) and Gumby (who?, no. 22) waaayyyy above Donald Duck (no. 36), Tom & Jerry (no. 39) and The Powerpuff Girls (no. 43). At the end they tack on the cluster of superheroes (nos. 44, Spiderman, 46, Superman, 47, Batman and 49, Wonder Woman). Shoddy. My own top 5: 1. Gaston Lagaffe 2. Dexter (from Dexter's Laboratory) 3. Obelix 4. Hobbes 5. Rat from Pearls Before Swine who is basically just Shenguin I put too many comic strip characters into this list. |
