The scene in Master and Commander where Peter Weir uses this piece, in my view, the most poignant of RVW's works, had me silently weeping ... now, in these troubled times, with many vacant seats on our mess benches, it still affects me very greatly |

Why is it that so much of the music posted by you young punks is shackled to the past? A lot of it is stuff I like, but there's so much damned good stuff being created now. I don't mean the majority of stuff that gets pumped out on the Radio; that's either not terribly original. It's repetitive, and often very artificial. Anyway one such new talent is Annaca; there's a quality to her voice that's remarkable - her home recordings sometimes suffer because the acoustics and setup ain't so good - but her music compels me to listen ... |

I'm not that young.
My musical tastes were mostly formed in the 1980s and 1990s.
I do listen to more recent stuff occasionally.
I have discovered some new stuff recently. Most of that (Clinic, Liars) is not that new.
