Tuffers No! Stop! Do not buy new Joy Cons, and not at inflated prices!
Joy Con Drift is a well documented phenomenon and can be repaired, although the repair might not last forever. I'm not sure what the situation is in the UK, but my understanding is that in the US Nintendo is repairing Joy Cons for free because they know it's a faulty product. Have a look at Nintendo's website, although I don't know whether due to the lockdown their repair centres are currently operating. You should be able to send them in and get them repaired.
Alternatively you might be able to fix it yourself, I recommend this video
Edit: The Joy Cons are so expensive atm because there has been more demand for them and the actual console because of lockdowns worldwide while at the same time supply had been throttled because the Chinese factories that produce them had to close for a while.

So I just bought the 51 worldwide games, the first video game thing that the Pref.Mam. likes, and I now hear about "JoyCon* drift", typical.
*I've always used my Princess Peach pro controller.
<edit>Full disclosure, she enjoyed Halo multiplayer and driving cars into walls.

Hum. It was Hum. (Of Evil. Not Bees).
Ironically HumOfBees is BeardOfEvil's Favourite band.
