Afternoon. When I removed the first Flammkuchen from the oven the sheet of baking paper caught fire. This had happened to me before, so I knew that because of the speed of the flames there was nothing I could do except wait for the paper to burn up and hope that nothing else would catch fire. Fortunately it didn't and I even managed to save the Pref. Mam.'s dinner from the inferno. Dinner was tasty but it had been a somewhat exhausting evening. I remember trying to fry chips in a deep frying pan... inevitably the oil caught fire and the flames started to reach the extractor so, with great presence of mind, I told my housemates to fuck off when they suggested throwing it into a sink full of water, and I carefully carried the conflagration into the centre of the kitchen, went to my knees and held it 1' off the ground - the polystyrene ceiling tiles escaped damage (rented house), but a close escape. My arms were damn tired and my bastard housemates had served themselves the bangers and onion rings, leaving me one sausage ... And remember, always taste, taste, taste...

Killed it. I'm back from Tesco. Beat that, punks. I walked to the local shop and failed* to buy The Guardian. *due to it being sold out** and not for any other reason. **I think they carry about 3 copies. Some major Guardian hotspot bragging there*. I'd get in touch with the marketing department and suggest they deliver four copies from now on. * my local newsagent has two, other than the regular orders.

I see Amipal's sweet content is him fiddling with his "joystick". This is exactly where I wanted to be - no longer needing to promote myself, my fans doing it for me. Gawd bless ya, Felice Landry! Edit: he's talking about this latest Sweet Content™.

I must admit, I am enjoying watching amipal cleaning the gunk out of his old stick. Stimulating.
[EDIT] Now he's cleaning out the grime that's been building up over 20-odd years. I mean, I'm not exactly Mr Hygiene, but that seems a bit excessive.

BSG is on BBC2 RIGHT NOW!!
I'm supposed to be watching Justified. I've seen BSG recently. I don't need to watch it again.
But I wants to... Yes I does... I wants to...

That looks brilliant. So so good. Alas, a mid-week photoshoot featuring a six-hour round-trip with my boy's first week at school... ach. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

tenthenemy I am curious about your Tintin habit. Are you just filling in gaps in your collection or have you joined a Tintin version of Laithwaites? Or is somebody sending you books in an unsolicited manner, a serial killer for example? I haven't cracked the code yet, but it's only Tiddles, so how hard can it be? When I was about 9 or 10 I spent my pocket money on acquiring the whole collection (including Tintin in the Congo, because it's important to get a head start on racism whilst still in primary school) in German. My Dad was an early version of Marie Kondo and regularly purged the house of everything that didn't spark joy, which is how most of my collection of comic books ended up at my brother's place. A few weeks ago I took the Pref. Mam. on a hike to the Uncanny Valley that is Hollywood adaptation of The Adventures of Tintin. I had not seen it before, but it turned out that Pref. Mam. hadn't even heard of Tintin, let alone read any of the books. So I thought it would be educational and nice to have a set in English and went to see what Beff Jezos could do. I quite fancied the Egmont Hardcover Complete Edition, but there was one problem: they had shrunk the volumes to half the original size. So instead I went for this offer www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009GE0I3A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1which promised hardcover volumes for (at the time, they've now put up the price) £100; obviously a good deal, didn't mind that it was second hand. So I was expecting a set of hardcover volumes. Instead every day I'm getting now these random copies, mostly paperback, from different second hand book sellers. So far only one of them, The Blue Lotus, hasn't been full-sized which is my main concern; but then it hasn't been in English, either. It has become an amusing guessing game which volumes will turn up next (and so far I've never guessed correctly).

Watching gone in 60 seconds. Dr who is in it. Have you ever watched the original film from 1974? It doesn't have Nicolas Cage in it, which makes it 1000% better.
